Aroma of sweet malt, caramel and fruity hops. Well-balanced, sweet malt, some caramel and a sharp clean hop flavor. Straight forward well made amber. jordanb (19), Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Poured from a bottle dated 06.19.08 at about 40 degrees. Half an inch of of off-white head that dissipated a little too quickly. A very nice dark amber-red color. A sweet and subtle aroma -- a little too subtle for my taste. It had a perfect amount of hoppiness and a very smooth, almost syrupy body. Pumpkin and toffee notes and a pleasantly dry finish. Precisely what keeps me from disparaging this beer also keeps me from praising it; it’s too subtle in many ways, almost intentionally restrained, though that may be the result of it being below optimal temperature. All in all, though, a picture-perfect example of a quality amber ale. ucusty (1915), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Had this beer both on tap and in the bottle. Enjoyed it throughly each way. Appeared a nice clear brown. A grassy hop smell with caramel malt. The taste is the same as the aroma. The hops are not as strong as the name would suggest, but still a very good session beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle - purchased at New Beer in NYC; dark amber with foaming white head that quickly fades; huge hops aromas are sweet, juicy and thick; drinks with considerably hoppiness, but also with the sweet, caramel of the amber ale base; on the strong side, but tasty for sure skibumdc (6), Alexandria, Virginia, USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 23, 2008 Nice hops taste, but coming from a keg of Dogfish 90 minute it paled in comparison. A good summer/fall beer and crowd pleaser.
Nice burnt caramel color. JoeinUccle (911), Brussels, Belgium
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Bottle. Translucent ruby-mahogany with thin, off-white head. Enticing hoppy, juicy and malty nose all at once. Hints of citrus and chocolate in aroma. Fruity bitterness carries a slightly caramel-sweet tinge for balance. Nothing overpowering, maybe a little discordant, but tasty and pretty refreshing.
