Commercial Description:
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

Very clear and beautiful maple amber color with an inch of thick off-white head. Aroma of sweet, almost caramel, pine hops. Sweetness is there with a mild caramel at first, but the hop finish is unpronounced. It starts to transition to the slightly bitter hops and then just falls off. I like the body though and I think it’s still a good beer.

This is a nice amber with a bold hop character. The aroma is hops with some sweet malt and mild yeast. Flavor is nice and hopy with citrus and pine and a mild floral note. Finish is a bit sticky but not in a negative way. I like this beer and continue to buy it a few times a year.

Hoppy! Not too much, though, so I can stand it! Not a refresher... good with dinner... like hamburgers! Yum.

Clear brown with a red tint and a long-lasting white head. Sweet floral hop aroma with some yeasty undertones. Hints of citrus fruit and malt. Malty grainy flavor with some hops. Sweet honey flavor with a touch of bitterness on the end.. Very smooth and easy to drink. Good carbonation. Excellent easy to drink beer.

Somebody needs to tell the Troegs brothers to reevaluate this recipe. About two years ago I had this I liked, nice solid classic tasting amber ale. Last week, because I had not had it in about four months I grabbed a six pack - holy crap WHAT HAPPENED! Way too much hops, way too much. Very sweet, too sugary grapefruity taste, not balanced.

Pours deep copper color with a good head. Spicy hop aroma. It has a great spicy hop taste and a malt finish.

This beer looks great, a clear ruby body with a decent off-white head. Smells of hops, but fruity (not citrus) and a little malt. The flavor is hop-dominated, but not quite bitter enough and its a little watery.

Bottled. An elegant aromatic bouquet. Pours a dark umber hue with creamy opalescent head. Ambrosial profuse flavor; mellifluous malt succeeded by a perfect efflorescent hop presence with hints of vanilla and a slight bitter nuttiness.
