Aroma of light brown sugar, grain, peppery spice. Medium body with a pleasing light chewiness. Mostly caramel sweetness up front with a very soft bitterness coming in at the end. Finish is balanced, with a slowly developing dryness. This is a pretty good amber. It has some character, whereas most ambers are non-descript. hopson (596), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Updated: Oct 27, 2008very nice piney/floral aroma, large shaving cream, lacing off white head, copper in color. BUT, the flavor here dissapoints, and has a noticably flat character. Not as sharp or as dry as I like in a beer that starts off with so much promise. draft- really enjoyed a caramel like flavor and mouthfeel at first that opened up into a great and bright hop presentation. I was wrong with the bottle rate- WAY wrong. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Amber pour with a nice white head. Dark spicy hop flavor with some pleasantly smooth caramel maltiness. Dry finish. Excellent. dmtroyer (415), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Good roasted amber malt, with some relatively complex spiciness and hops. Good mouthfeel that turns a bit thin towards the end. I feel like "amber ale" is one of the more stratified classifications and this is definitely on the hoppier end of things. sneezey (110), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Highly citrus aroma with a really deep color considering its medium malt taste. Strong grapefruit citrus that doesn’t linger too long and is neatly balanced by medium body and quick dry finish. webjedi (249), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Tasty on tap... other than I had this just before Scratch #4... I thought it was hoppy. However, it’s well balanced, but too bitter for me to act as a session beer. However, having it server at the brewery was a treat because, with hopped ales, it’s best served fresh. Nice mouthfeel (not to chewy, not too thin), well balanced taste, albeit a bitt more hop bitter than a traditional amber ale. (On Tap 10/13/2007) BarleyBob (18), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2007 This has become one of my favorite beers. It pours a deep copper color with a thick, white head. The aroma is wonderful, full of floral/citrusy/spicy hop notes. The flavor is very hoppy, but it is a citrusy/grapefruit flavor, with just a tiny bit of bitterness. I find this to be a very distinctive, very enjoyable beer. clueo (112), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Red in color with little translucense. You can spell the hops long before your first sip. The taste is very much what the aroma suggests. It is a nice hoppy beer with a smooth finish.
