Some caramel, malty toffee taste backed up by a good bit of hops, but not as much as I expected or hoped for. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Pours a crystal clear amber color with a fast dissipating 3 in" head. Biscruity aroma, with some caramel, toffee and orange notes. Medium and well balanced with the hops coming out on top. Crisp finish, but not real dry, with lots of orange hops and caramel malts lingering in the aftertaste. Very tastey. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA

Lots of citrus hops in the nose and taste. Sometimes you forget about those special beers that just have the really crisp piney hops. I think this beer triumphs because it’s harmonious and balanced for its style, much like the Alesmiths, Three Floyds, and Bells. Obviously some great malt to back it up but I think that it’s comparable to many of the modern day pale ales. Still less malty and full bodied than an Alpha King but just as enjoyable. I think I found a solid beer to buy cases of in this state of stupid beer laws. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Bottle. A decent amber ale. Lots of hop in the aroma and again on the palate. Some grapefruit and pine flavours come thorugh, with some slightly sweet caramelly malt notes. Perhaps this was a touch too sweet. TheBeerOrg (1577), Kentucky, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 24, 2006 Pretty standard microbrew fare. For having the name Hopback you would think that the hops would jump out at you, but they don’t. Pretty smooth with medium character and nice finisht Birdiebeagle (788), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
