Surprisingly, this is a great beer! Hoppy, sweet, and refreshing. Sweet and malty on the taste as well as slightly hoppy (a nice touch for an amber). This would def be a session beer for me if I could buy it locally. Really, really good. Probably the best amber I’ve had in recent years. HopBackDoc (395), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA

Good balance of hops and some malt to back it up, but not too much. Has a bitterness of an IPA, but goes down smooth. Have this one when you’re tossing ’em back all day while flipping burgers on the grill. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2006 Bottle: Pellucid amber, sticky thin head, moderate lacing. Nose is sweet and crispy with earthy notes, creamy molasses and light caramel. The flavor is moderately bitter and not very balanced. The finish is soapy with some malty hop notes. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Bottle (12oz). My friend Alan brought me two of these from Pennsylvania. Pours brigtht clear bubbly copper with a foamy-fizzy off-white lasting head. Sweet light citrus hop aroma backed with lots of sweet toasty malt and hints of yeast and an overriding perfumy floral bouquet. Taste is a touch harsh, orange zest and almost boozy for a 5.6% - not bad, but it seems a letdown after that aroma. Mouthfeel is fizzy, astringent with a too-long bitter finish. More like an APA than an amber - one of the most enjoyable ambers I’ve had. theshocker (329), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Reddish tan, medium off white head that lasts a while. Crystal - read newspaper through a full glass - clear. Huge floral aroma, spicey german hops. Perfect score on aroma. Where it falls apart is flavor and mouthfeel. For an "amber" its thin thin thin. Very bitter, not enough malt to back up all this hop. It looks like a PA, smells like a PA, and tastes like a light PA. Not an ’amber ale’ - which is fine with me. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2006 Updated: Jun 2, 2006A nice amber color with just about no head or lacing. The hop presence was detectable in the flavor and aroma: grapefruits and other citrus hints, no substantial floral or pine presence. Flavor was supported with a nice malt background, delicate caramel, not too sweet, almost a bit dry tasting. Full mouthfeel, a very nice beer. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 28, 2006 Bottled. Beer was a clear, medium brown with a small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing head. The aroma was lightly malty with notes of husky toasted grain; hoppy with moderate-to-heavy notes of resin/pine and herbs; moderately doughy. The flavor was moderately sweet, moderately bitter with a long, lightly bitter finish. The body was light, the texture was watery and the carbonation was fizzy.
