Commercial Description:
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

[2521-20091009] 12floz bottle. Grass clippings and bread hops aroma with some fresh citrus rind. Clear, dark orange amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Rich grainy metallic grassy hops flavour. Full body is bitter. Quite tasty, good balance though hints at being old.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Fresh pine, and bitter earth tones, some light floral tones, and slick caramel. Bittering slightly dry finish. A well hopped amber. Nice.

A nice version of a hoppy amber ale and a local that has waited too long for me to try it. This beer comes out with a nice piney hop aroma that fades into citrus hop flavor as you drink. The beer has a nice balance of malt and hop flavor without being overly bitter.

Very malty taste, some caramel sweetness in there as well, nice little hop kick as well. Goes down real smooth, highly sessionable.

aroma is excellent balance of citric hop notes and hefty caramel backup. appearance is tarnished amber, yet translucent. flavor is chewy caramel with hop backup, an equal balance in opposite terms via the aroma. well balanced amber that still qualifies despite strong hopping.

12 oz Bottle -- Pours reddish-amber with an off-white head. Lots of sweet malt on the nose with some floral hops in the background. Big malty character providing caramel and dried fruits.

12oz. Pours a clear amber with a thin, white head that has some okay retention and no lacing. Aroma is caramel, floral hops. Taste is nice caramel malt, some lemon, dry hops, a bit earthy, toast, biscuit. Not bad. Nice bittering hops throughout.
