| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 15, 2009 This thing was an odd concoction of which I was not fond of, despite being a Troegs fan. It was like their hop series amber ales but dark and black, quite nasty in combination. Not sure if they intended to make a black IPA type deal, but the citrus hops did not match at all with the roast and black flavors, none of which had a lot of character in them anyway (was this really a stout, coffee quite lacking?). Put me to sleep. Appearance was dark brown with reddish hues, small head. Mouthfeel was moderately bodied. KornDogg (210), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown to near black, opaque pour. Tall, thick, brown head. Spotty lacing all over the glass once the head recedes. Aroma is strong roasted malt, bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is also strong roasted malt, bigger coffee notes, dark chocolate, bitter hops and oddly enough some fruit on the back end. Body is medium-full with a dense, creamy carbonation and a lingering bitterness. Ends with more roasted malt, coffee notes, dark chocolate, cocoa, bitter hops, and more fruit (light melon, some citrus fruit and hint of grape). Arayaga2 (972), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
