I didn’t miss the cherries at all in this beer. Very well ballanced. Hope they do this one again sometime. Illinest (14), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 20, 2007 Malty, Yeasty, smooth, full bodied, cloves and bananas. The only thing I’d change would be to boost the hop presence JUST SLIGHTLY.
I really like this beer. It falls a hair short of the best beers I’ve ever tasted, but only a hair.
I have to admit that my score partly reflects the fact that I can get a fresh growler filled for only 15 dollars. Great value imho. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 24, 2006 Draft at the Drafting Room Exton. HAzy dark straw pour with 1-finger off-white head. Big aromas of banana, yeasty Bazooka gum, spicy florals, and some funky malt. The flavor is on the sweet side, with a lot of banana, coriander, orange zest, bubblegum, and floral spices. This one could be a banana lambic! It also gains some bier de gard elements and saisony funky floral spiciness as it warms. Wonderfully complex and extremely smooth, with no heat at all! Troeg’s has another winner on their hands. Oh, and by the way, this is an example of how the cherries actually may have held this wonderful beer back a little! tdrshayden (3), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 19, 2006 Orange in color with a full head. Lots of spice in the flavor with a smooth full body. The high alcohol is prominent in the flavor but finishes dry and smooth. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 20, 2006 this is the mad elf without the cherries or honey, it is also unfiltered, which makes in a cloudy light brownish colour. personally i think this is much better then the regular mad elf. doesn’t really have a distinct flavour, it is just kick ass. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Fruity, dry spice flavor, yet very smooth... wish they would have came out with a 2008 batch... i really hope they try to push this as much as the mad elf... could be a new big seller.... imzugzug (103), Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2006 On draft at Union Jacks. Very complex malty aroma. Dark cloudy amber pour with a minimal off white head. Amazingly well balanced beer strong in citrus, banana and clove flavor. I didn’t miss the cherrys at all and I’m a huge fan of Mad Elf. I can’t wait to have this one again. Alcohol content well hidden TomDecapolis (3203), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2006 On tap at the Drafting Room in Spring House. Pours a hazy brownish orange amber with a smaller off white bubbly head that left some lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, banana, clove, spices and an overall fruitiness. Flavor of ripe banana, spcies, some darker fruits and a bit sugary. Thought the alcohol was well hidden for the 9%.
