Poured amber with a creamy off-white head that left light lace. Nice caramel and hop citrus aroma. The flavor found orange peel and a malt balance. Medium body, crisp, medium bitterness. Very nice! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Bottle props to Butters for the hook up. The pour is very cloudy with a huge, evenly formed white head. The aroma is about what I am talking. Loads of very dank, stanky herbal hops are right up in my nose. A dash of citrus is thrown in and maybe some biscuity scents, maybe. As American as the aroma is on this, the flavor is more English leaning. I get a little less of that herbal bitterness and more wood, more cheese, more cereal. The malts are right in check, actually they provide a little more character than the average hugely hoppy American beer. I am really enjoying this stuff. The hops are all over the place and leave my palate pretty dry. BMan1113VR (2883), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Bottle of Nugget Nectar Imperial Amber thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a deep amber orange with a smallish, frothy off-white head. Lots of hops, plums and caramel. Taste is fruity and finishes nice and sweet with caramel and a bit of cereal and a dash of chocolate malts. Syrupy with a slight bit of biting carbonation. Good beer. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2008 In short: A dry and crisp IPA
How: Bottle 12oz from CharlesDarwin, thanks a lot tom. Drank fresh two few weeks after receiving it.
The look: Partially cloudy dark orange body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Aroma is soapy, a little stinky (sweat), fresh orange and a little pine-cone juice. Body is light, this beer is rather low on the malt side. Very toasted bread with some dry caramel and honey with a hard-candy feeling. A little sugary. Hop taste is not very juicy, more like dried oranges with some foresty notes. Despite the fruity flavours the beer has an assertive dry bitterness. I don’t know what it is but something in the beer really dries it out and that’s one of its best feature. I could feel a little alcohol bite (!?) despite the relatively low abv. Overall the beer is quite tasty. Good beer, I sure couldn’t make a better nugget nectar myself, cause my nuggets… well… you don’t want my nuggets nectar.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Bottle, pours slightly orange, vaguely cloudy, with a small, white head. Aroma is all hops, bright, citrusy, piney. Flavor is pine and citrus hops again up front, followed by a balancing maltiness, and finsihes with a long, acidic tang. Moderately carbonated. Very, very good. Proteus93 (66), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 27, 2008 A nice brilliant golden amber, sporting a great off-white sticky marshmallow head.
A pretty huge hop profile here... a very clean pine/grapefruit melding with a sweet malt. When first smelling it, the first thought was "This is what car fresheners or Pinesol SHOULD smell like" ;)
Like the smell, the hops carry over here, in a very good way. A very pine/spruce taste with a bit of a sweet, malty balance towards the back of the tongue, followed by a bittering finish. Truly spectacular.
A full body, a moderate carbonation - not overly so, but just about right to balance the rather big flavour.
A well-done ’imperialization,’ I was quite shocked with how well this all went over. This one seems to be worthy of the hype, and I’d go for it again.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Hazy orange pour with one-finger off-white head. Tasted after Pliny the Elder, so I had to adjust... admittedly this smelled like wet dog to me at first. But I kept at it and the beer rewarded: pine, citrus, almost a spicy apricot, and a very solid malt backbone. Nicely spicy bitter finish. This bottle was about 8 months old, so I’m sure it’s past its prime, but I can tell this is a good beer. Dmalone102 (218), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 25, 2008 I actually got a hold of this beer while in Cape May, NJ while on vacation. I got it in August, when everyone I talked to said that it was too old. They are wrong. I understand that the hop profile will not be nearly as fresh as it is in the spring, but a beer that heavily hopped and that alcoholic should last quite a while, definately longer than 5 months. The malt character is also very complex, and in fact, this is a very balanced beer. Did I taste cinnamon?
