| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2008 Bottle. Huge hop aroma, lightly citric but hugely aggressive, and features all the hops I know so little about (Nuggest, Warrior, and Tomahawk). Not quite lychee, not quite pine, but unmistakably hop drenched. And a slight off-note of nail-polish. Orange pour, clear with light carbonation and a soapy beige head.
Bitter, exotic fruit taste, slightly soapy with rind-scrapings from pomegranate and mango. Touch of pineapple. Medium body feels just a bit lighter, with a dry aftertaste and just a little bit of grit on the tongue. This is clearly well-made, but I can’t give massive points for a flavor I don’t particularly like. An interesting hop experience (experiment?), but not really mind-blowing and not really suitable for everyday drinking. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy JB175 - thanks a bunch! Pours a classic amber color with a thick, bubbly head that leaves an abundance of lacing...great appearance! Aroma is sweet hops...lots of citrus in there, in particular grapefruit, with some piney/resiny hops in there as well...good complexity and the sweetness makes it very pleasant. Flavor is very good...the bittering hops are there with lots of lemon/grapefruit flavor, but there’s some good malt in there to keep the hops honest. The bitterness on the after palate is countered with a slight bit of sweetness as well, again, helping to keep a super-hopped beer in check. This was my first experience with Troegs, and seeing as I really enjoyed their IPA, I hope it isn’t my last! MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Fly: poured clear orange. Large beige head. Big hops in the aroma. Grapefruit and pine. Juicy. Just like I like my IPAs. Flavor is a big blast of grapefruity hops. Light sweetness. Bitter but not overly so. Well balanced. Very nice. Yum. R-dog (19), Alabama, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2008 This beer welcomes you with a sweet grapefruity aroma with just a hint of soap-in-the-mouth flavor. A creamy but thin almond colored head quickly dissipates to expose the amber, orange to red hued brew, which to me is the quintessential beer color. The body is light and dry due to the hops but still round enough and the overall sensation is very refreshing. It leaves a little tang in the aftertaste with some very nice sweetness on the middle of the tongue. It reminds me of MH#9, but better.
Except for the soapy notes, it is a great beer.
My overall impression of this beer is that I would love to sit in a folding chair and watch the sun set over a lake on a warm summer evening while getting sufficiently lit up on this stuff. Like a good conversation it’s very easy and pleasant, but also interesting. Jvittorio4187 (255), Boardman, Ohio, USA

Hop aroma is intense. Massive citrus on the nose with a spicy sweetness. Taste is very balanced. Nice flavor with tangerine, sweetness, spicyness. Finish is smooth with a big hop bite. Crisp finish. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2008 (bottle, thanks Stine!) Pours a dark copper color with a white head. The aroma is the best feature of this beer, it is quite unique and appealing. There were scents of pineapple, heavy tangerine/tangelo, light hint of pepper, caramel, and also a candy-like quality as well. The taste was a bit of a let-down, with much less complexity than the aroma. The taste was very caramel dominant, with just a faint taste of bitter hops on the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is also sweet, fruity hops. After taste is a little grassy, but over all a very smooth and drinkable IPA. I like it! Good brew!***rerate***** Bottle shared by wolf....This one was a little hoppier than I remembed. Had a good malty backbone. Sugary sweet, lots of fruity and grassy hops...good beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Mmm, nice. Now thats some hops. Pours a deep chestnut red, full creamy khaki head, and moderate lacing that didn’t have time to form because I drank this so fast! Yep, this is one beer that screams, "Don’t mess around, drink me". Its very potable. Huge hop aroma, floral, grapefruit, pine resin, maybe just a bit of cannabis. Flavor also hop dominated with a tingly twangy tart hoppiness with more grapefruit and resins. Finishes with a peppery hop bitterness and just near the end, you’re reminded there’s malt in here, a big thick breadiness that reveals just a touch of alcohol.
