| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours copper with 1.5 cm white fluffy head. Strong aroma of hops and pine. Initial flavor is slightly more balanced than I was expecting, light malts help to subdue the crushing pine and hop notes of flavor. Aftertaste is bitter and lasting. Light lacing, light carbonation, light to medium mouthfeel, and well hidden alcohol. Drinkable and different, worth finding and drinking. Beerlando (2344), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Pours a clear, dark orange-amber body. A small, foamy, cream colored head leaves behind thick tapestry lacing on the glass. The aroma is like an evergreen forest, with pine resin and spruce springing forward from a nice, creamy, caramel and toffee malt background. The flavor follows suit, with the full frontal pine attack kicking into full gear. The malts balance this hop monster out quite well, with a unique, almost lactic creaminess intertwined with the caramel. The smooth, medium body finishes with toned down, resinous hops that slowly fade away into oblivion. This is a mighty fine IPA, and one that I would drink regularly if it were available to me. The balance is incredible. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Bottle: Deep orange pour with perfect clarity. Nice tropical fruit hop nose. Some evident mango qualities and mild tangerine. Creamy yet mild carbonation. Nice tropical fruit presence in the flavor as well. Some mango, peach and mild citrus rind resins in the finish. Not very bitter, but has a nice and fruity hop character. kyzr (1123), Belgrade, Montana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Thanks to Immy for this bottle. Pours a copper color with nice sized off-white head. Good bit of citrus and pine on the nose. Flavor is all hops up front with a with just enough malt to balance it out. Very big on the hoppy flavor, medium body and dry finish. Didn’t really feel like a 7.5% alcohol beer, went down nice. MaxxDaddy (263), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear copper-red with a little bit of head. Aroma is piney hops for sure, lives up to its name. Taste is hop-dominated as well, go figure. More pine trees with little malt support. For whatever reason, I wasn’t terribly in love with this one. It felt like something as missing, maybe it was some heft. Mouthfeel was average at best and finished bitter. This bottle came from PA a couple of weeks ago. Now that I can get it in NY, this may deserve another visit. DragonsHead (137), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Deep copper color with a light foamy head. Big hop aroma from the start. This feels like walking through a freakin’ pine forest. Taste is pure hops flavor. The malt balances well, but it’s a hop show overall. Absolutely love it. MrBunn (1542), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Bottle. Wow, this looks so transparent that I was a little confused. Coppery color with a finger or so of head and a lovely hops aroma that reminds me of pine, grass, grapefruit and all the loveliness of a heavy hopping. Flavor is hops dominated, to say the least. Pine and grapefruit flavors dominate and there is not quite enough malt body or something to keep it from seeming slightly thin. That said, the alcohol, while nicely covered by the hops flavors, is there and will bite you back. Nicely brewed and well worth the try. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2008 bottle. pours a quite clear copper with a thick off white head, which fades slowly and laces thickly. pine and floral hops dominate, backed up with a rather spicy bready malt scent. the whole thing creates a sort of cotton candy character as it warms. the malt comes out quite a bit more in the taste, with the bread taste dominating, but still backed up by huge spicy grassy, piney, and floral hops. moderate bitterness on the finish, with a light sweetness. medium body, tons of carbonation. coating, resinous mouthfeel. this stuff is great. i remember asking these guys at a festival a few years back if they would ever bring this back, and they intimated that i wasn’t the only one who’d been asking, and that they were considering it. i’m quite glad they did, as it’s their best stuff, near as i can tell.
