Wicked hops all over the nose, nice clear, amber pour into a modest head. As expected, the bitterness of the multitude of hops attack the front tongue, giving way to a load of florals and earth. Carbonation is medium, finish is the trademark IPA bitterness. FlyingTaco (112), Massachusetts, USA

12 oz. bottle poured into Hess truck glass...
Clean and clear body with light carbonation and honey/apple juice/butterscotch color. Average head with decent lacing.
Bountiful hops are mostly floral with a little bit of grass (first whiff reminds me of catnip?!). There’s also a little honey and a lot of grapefruit. Sweet and tangy aroma.
The hops are in front and well-presented but this is not about a balanced effort. Slight off taste at first (dog blanket?). Alcohol is well-concealed, probably mostly by the carbonation. Malt completes the backbone but its flavor is slow to emerge until the offering warms a little bit. Well-made but was expecting to be wowed a little more.
This is very clean and clear with, of course, strong hop pucker. The deep, bitter hop finish is very enjoyable. A little citrus tang goes a long way here. Body is not too thick on the mouth and there’s not a lot of alcohol burn.
Very clean drinking - again, this is all about the hops! Well done.

Nice hops aroma, a bit of sweet malt in there too. Flavor is a bit less intense than I expected from the nose, nice hops presence, malty backbone with nice citrus and pine hints. I find sweetness at the front and bitterness toward the end. Nice rich palate, this one has some substance. Pretty damn good beer. Bigmmartin (378), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Bottle. I waited a long damn time for Troegs to distribute to Ohio. I’ve had this beer several times now. Amber in color with a thick white head. Pretty strong aroma of hops and citrus. Flavor is similar, with a bit of malt to back up the dry bitter hops. Nice finish too. They label it as an amber it, but we all know the truth. It’s a red IPA! And a good one. curly (742), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 30, 2009 Pours murky amber with a thin beige head that dissapates quickly. Aroma leads me to believe that the bottle is old with mostly a dull pine and metallic aroma. Taste is like piney dogfood, very dull and I know it is actually way better fresh. Will try to get a good bottle and rate again. drfabulous (1275), Columbia, Missouri, USA

Flavorful and crisp with a very smooth finish. I just can’t get enough. Like a true IPA it’s strays a little on the bitter end, but this beer is one of the most flavor-balanced ales I’ve ever tasted. #035 on 30062009, DG.
