it almost has a roasted aroma this time, still no flavor other than a bitter black patent character, a 7% ’troegs winter oatmeal stout’ ranks highly on ba.com, this must be a different beer

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 4, 2007 I wish I had a tale of ribaldry or something to share. I do not.
Appearance: Pours out a dark (near black) brown and topped with a towering, foamy brown head.
Smell: Mild aroma that comes and goes but delivers scents of espresso and bittersweet chocolate.
Taste: Largely roasty, with flavors of dark chocolate, touch of vanilla, and a lactose sweetness. Prolonged dry, roasted bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Smooth, though slightly thinner than expected.
Drinkability: Nicely done, but not the most thrilling stout available. drewbeerme (2306), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2007 Bottle: Dark brown pour with a thick, tanned head and subtle lacing. Nose is roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is a rich blend of coffee, cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, and oats. Very typical flavors of an oatmeal stout, but rich and lingering finish. A little bit of hops bitters in the finish with lingering coffee aftertaste. Thanks JCB for sending this tasty treat.
