Commercial Description:
TASTING NOTES Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is our interpretation of the classic dry stout style. Dark and creamy with hints of chocolate and black currants, our Oatmeal Stout includes a healthy dose of Centennial and Chinook hops creating a unique stout perfect for the late Fall and Winter.

FOOD COMPLEMENTS With a full-bodied, creamy finish, Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is best with desserts; it is the perfect companion to dark chocolates, cocoa-based treats, caramels, peanut butter desserts and vanilla ice cream.

Bottle: Ruby tinted pitch-brown with a thin tan head. Chalky oatmeal stout nose with hints of chocolate. Medium bodied, hints of coffee in the middle, nicely roasted malts, somewhat caramelly at the finish before the dryness. Nice stout.

On tap at the Lehigh Valley Brew Fest ’04. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Aroma and tastes of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Typical sweet stout - not bad nor undrinkable…

Pours extremely dark brown, almost black with a little bit of tan head. Aroma is roasty and a little chocolately. Tastes like sweet chocolate with a little oatmeal. Really cant detect the 7% abv. Overall, a good oatmeal stout.

Very dark brown color with a dark tan rocky head. Sweet malt and hints of chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Fairly thin, but very smooth in feel. Just saw the ABV. Sure wish it wasn’t quite as high. This is really sooth drinking. Nothing overly complex. Sweet toasted malts mingle with a bit of sour dough. Just hints of roasted malts in the finish. Also just noticed this was bottle 9/16/03, this has held up very well. I could enjoy many of these a cool fall night. Thanks jeffc666.

Lighter side of black, hints of red, super creamy dark tan head. Very roasty with notes of chocolate, coffee, cream, light toffee, with a slight hint of sweet flaked oats. Flavor is similar with nice balance. A small amount of citric hops rounds this out nicely. Medium to full bodied, silky smooth, soft carbonation, dryish chocolate finish. Another nice one from the Troegs brothers.

There just aren’t enough stouts in the world... even this one quenches the appetite. Fits the criteria like a charm. Black as night... sweet as chocolate... hopped with mocha and oats. Not the best stout by far. But still excellent.

my god, what a dark beer. but good. even my dog likes this one, and he has a very picky beer palate. kinda sweet, very dark, and very drinkable for an oatmeal stout. recomended.
