| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 30, 2004 Rich ebony with dull maple highlights. Scattered beige foam settles to a sticky, creamy ring. Prunes, bittersweet chocolate, meaty molasses, licorice, black currants, espresso, ink, flaked oats, and a smidge of vinous fruits, spruce tips, and chalky black malt scents. Silky smooth texture from the oats. Oily body immediately seduces you as it caresses the roast and slathers the tongue with lush, chewy oats and bittersweet chocolate. Continually lush oat underbody perpetuates the rich malt display as the tangy Munichs deepen the brew. Bitter espresso, leather, and lightly oxidized black malts lessen the sweetness and give way to more roastiness, vanilla bean, and bittersweet chocolate. Savory interplay between smooth oats, earthy malts, and plenty of char in the finish alongside mild notes of black licorice and mocha. Farly airy, as well, with a delayed sprucelike hop onset. Subtle, yet notable, phenolic belches ensue. Complex yet highly quaffable. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2004 This is a really really good oatmeal stout - creamy (not overly, just right), sweet (milk chocolate) and roasty in equal amounts - finishes nice too. Sammy (4013), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2004 Nice oatmeal stout. Perhaps not as excellent as Samuel Smith's, but different mostly in the bitter US oats. Rich like a bit of cocoa and coffee and dark and creamy. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2004 The Oatmeal Stout pours an opaque black with deep red highlights. It has a thick light brown head that went down to a thin film and collar that laced the glass.
Its aroma is dark roasted malts with some chocolate and oats.
The taste is bitter roasted malts up front, followed by some creamy chocolate and subtle cherry. It ends with a well balanced, sweet and bitter aftertaste. It has a nice, creamy, fairly full-bodied mouthfeel that coats your mouth.
Overall, an excellent stout! Thanks to Probiere for the trade! FridgRaider (108), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA
