Commercial Description:
TASTING NOTES Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is our interpretation of the classic dry stout style. Dark and creamy with hints of chocolate and black currants, our Oatmeal Stout includes a healthy dose of Centennial and Chinook hops creating a unique stout perfect for the late Fall and Winter.

FOOD COMPLEMENTS With a full-bodied, creamy finish, Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is best with desserts; it is the perfect companion to dark chocolates, cocoa-based treats, caramels, peanut butter desserts and vanilla ice cream.

Rich ebony with dull maple highlights. Scattered beige foam settles to a sticky, creamy ring. Prunes, bittersweet chocolate, meaty molasses, licorice, black currants, espresso, ink, flaked oats, and a smidge of vinous fruits, spruce tips, and chalky black malt scents. Silky smooth texture from the oats. Oily body immediately seduces you as it caresses the roast and slathers the tongue with lush, chewy oats and bittersweet chocolate. Continually lush oat underbody perpetuates the rich malt display as the tangy Munichs deepen the brew. Bitter espresso, leather, and lightly oxidized black malts lessen the sweetness and give way to more roastiness, vanilla bean, and bittersweet chocolate. Savory interplay between smooth oats, earthy malts, and plenty of char in the finish alongside mild notes of black licorice and mocha. Farly airy, as well, with a delayed sprucelike hop onset. Subtle, yet notable, phenolic belches ensue. Complex yet highly quaffable.

Pours blackish with a nice tan head and good lacing. Aroma of malt, oats, some roastiness, and some nuts. Tastes malty, with nuts, oats, chocolate, and a smooth roastiness at the finish.

Pours black with a nice fluffy tan head. Nose is raosted malt and coffee. The taste is slightly bitter with some more of the coffee notes prevalent. A nice creamy medium bodied stout. Finishes bitter with slight malt sweetness.

This is a really really good oatmeal stout - creamy (not overly, just right), sweet (milk chocolate) and roasty in equal amounts - finishes nice too.

Nice oatmeal stout. Perhaps not as excellent as Samuel Smith's, but different mostly in the bitter US oats. Rich like a bit of cocoa and coffee and dark and creamy. Hops on top added to experience

The Oatmeal Stout pours an opaque black with deep red highlights. It has a thick light brown head that went down to a thin film and collar that laced the glass.

Its aroma is dark roasted malts with some chocolate and oats.

The taste is bitter roasted malts up front, followed by some creamy chocolate and subtle cherry. It ends with a well balanced, sweet and bitter aftertaste. It has a nice, creamy, fairly full-bodied mouthfeel that coats your mouth.

Overall, an excellent stout! Thanks to Probiere for the trade!

Pours black with an off-white kinda tannish head. Chocolate, fruity, smokey, coffee nose. This is real close to Samuel Smiths Oatmeal stout.

12 oz bottle, snifter. Chocolate, molasses, coffee malt (H); light smoke and sweet fruity aromas. Very deep black body with a great, well-lasting, creamy tan head. Real tasty chocolate and coffee flavors throughout. Harlequinn's right on with the coffee cake description. The bottom line is: mmm...dessert. [thanks Probiere!]
