Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Tastes thick, pretty creamy and can taste the malt, chocolate and coffee. Pretty good stout and the best offering from Troegs yet. Not too impressed so far with Troegs. Roasted malt taste with coffee. Bitter hoppiness blends in very nicely. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Sickboy282 (1100), San Diego, California, USA

Could this beers body be anymore opaque? I think not.
Could the caramel colored head on this Stout be any thicker or creamier? Possibly, but I wouldn’t want it to be.
The nose is full with oats, walnuts, almonds, vanilla, coco, cream, yummyness. The flavor certainly has more hops than I had anticipated. The malt is found in abundance. Huge notes of bittering black coffee, toasty chocolate malts, charred oak, ash and cinder, small notes of raisins but overpowered by the coffee. The palate is terrific, creamy and smooth.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2004 Very dark almost opaque stout. Nice suttle hop aroma followed by some roasted malt. Dark tan head that hangs around for a while. Nice mild hop flavor followed by the roasted malt. Very good medium body, an excellent oatmeal stout. The Trogner brothers did a good job on this one, I will be drinking this again! What I really like is they did not over use the hops, they have a very good balance of the hop and malt flavors.
