Commercial Description:
TASTING NOTES Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is our interpretation of the classic dry stout style. Dark and creamy with hints of chocolate and black currants, our Oatmeal Stout includes a healthy dose of Centennial and Chinook hops creating a unique stout perfect for the late Fall and Winter.

FOOD COMPLEMENTS With a full-bodied, creamy finish, Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is best with desserts; it is the perfect companion to dark chocolates, cocoa-based treats, caramels, peanut butter desserts and vanilla ice cream.

Pours rich looking near black body with a tall foamy tan head. Nose is raosted malt, light hops, and some wood and coffee notes. The taste is slightly oily and bitter as more of the roasted elements come forth. More coffee and wood present here than in the aroma. There's some sweetness in there as well. Finishes pretty well with some light bitterness and a light oily residue during the finish. Good beer!

Less body than expected in your usual oatmeal stout. Dark garnet coloring is complimented by an exquisite light brown head with nice lacings. Aroma of roast, oats, and a little chocolate is more mild than anticipated. Mild carbonation and initial roast flavors are followed by a lingering bitter malt taste. Not as creamy as I thought it should be. This is a good beer, but not the best in its class.

Dark opaque, just a hint of light through the glass when held up to the light. Excellent roast aroma. Good mouthfeel, a hint of creamyness to the body.

Rich black color with a thin coating of tan head. Very inviting roasted malt and milk chocolate aroma. Body has a nice mild lactic sweetness in the beginning before turning more bittersweet, prior to the roasted dark chocolate finish. Nice smooth body. Thanks urbnhautebourg for this great stout!

Deep, mostly opaque brown, very nice head, good appearance. Aroma strongly of roasted malt, good bit of chocolate. Flavors revolve around chocolate, some roastiness, maybe a hint of espresso on the finish. A bit of that rounded mouthfeel you find in some oatmeal stouts. Like this better than I was expecting, very pleasant surprise.

Bottled 10/30/03-I like this very much.Very hoppy(chinook,centenial)/chocolaty/coffee/ head/lace/black w/deep mohogany highlights.Palate is lacking the creamy yet pleasantly smooth and rich/medium bodied(7% bonus).Reminds me of some heady(mocha) porters w/a little oatmeal and class. The brewery states this is their repesentation of a dry stout? That would put this treat in the top ten of the dry stouts. Bottled 11-05-04.Nice chocolaty brew with some char in there, not as hoppy as last years but it seems the mouth has some of that desired cream.Good.
