Commercial Description:
TASTING NOTES Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is our interpretation of the classic dry stout style. Dark and creamy with hints of chocolate and black currants, our Oatmeal Stout includes a healthy dose of Centennial and Chinook hops creating a unique stout perfect for the late Fall and Winter.

FOOD COMPLEMENTS With a full-bodied, creamy finish, Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is best with desserts; it is the perfect companion to dark chocolates, cocoa-based treats, caramels, peanut butter desserts and vanilla ice cream.

[238-20070325] 355mL. Sweet aroma is full of coffee and nutty malt. Dark black body with red hues, a medium-lasting tan head and a little lacing. Some dark chocolate notes and more nut in the flavour with bitter coffee malt. Full body has a gravelly tongue. Very dark and rich characteristics.

A nice, solid version of the style. I’ve never been too terribly partial to dry stouts, but this one is pretty flavorful. Big chocolate notes are balanced by a very dry finish, with just a trace of roastiness in there. I tend to agree with a lot of other raters, that this brew would benefit from a thicker feel. But as is it’s well worth keeping on hand.

Bottle courtesy of Mabel. Black body with a big creamy brown head and decent lacing on the glass. (4+) Sweet mocha aroma with light notes of chocolate and coffee and hints of moderate roast. (7+) Fairly dry bitterness in the flavour is less sweet than I expected from the aroma. Sweet mocha and malt in the middle gives way to a lingering roasty dry chocolate in the finish/ (7+). Smooth palate is creamy and smooth but not as full bodied as I’d like. (3+) A very solid stout. 4+/7+/3+/7+/15-16

Bottle courtesy of dirty_martini. Thanks! Pours an opaque blackish brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of molasses, vanilla. Creamy medium body and light carbonation. The taste is chocolate, coffee and smoke. Dry pine and espresso finish,

Bottle: Black in color, very little light on the edges, large fluffy beige head, clumpy lacing.   Lactose laced roasted malt sweetness on the nose.   Some pale fruit skin as well.   Very subtle cocoa and bittersweet bakers chocolate on the tongue.   Backside is quite roasty, with minor campfire.   Mild bitterness throughout.   Finish is quite dry, with lingering bakers cocoa, lactose sweetness, and even a bit of charred wood.   A little thin on the body and mouthfeel, at least not as big as I would have hoped.   Still fairly decent tho.   Thanks Nick!

Black colour with a dense light brown head. Roasted malty aroma with a sweet light fruity note. Malty and fruity flavor with a coffee bitterness and a dry roasted finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, dark brown with a reddish hue and a delicious, creamy, beige head leaving laces. Aroma of lightly burned malt. The body is medium with very dry, burned malty notes and a touch of coffee. Ends dry also. Courtesy of xproudfoot. 120207
