Commercial Description:
TASTING NOTES Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is our interpretation of the classic dry stout style. Dark and creamy with hints of chocolate and black currants, our Oatmeal Stout includes a healthy dose of Centennial and Chinook hops creating a unique stout perfect for the late Fall and Winter.

FOOD COMPLEMENTS With a full-bodied, creamy finish, Tröegs Oatmeal Stout is best with desserts; it is the perfect companion to dark chocolates, cocoa-based treats, caramels, peanut butter desserts and vanilla ice cream.

Lots of chocolate in the aroma. Flavor was chocolate, coffee, oatmeal and a bit nutty. A little hop bite at the finish, good stuff.

(2004) 12 oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma was very sweet with chocolate and vanilla with some malts. The taste was almost the same as a Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout which is one of my favorite beers... very balanced and I love the combination of deep flavorings mixed with the sweet oatmeal and vanilla. I enjoyed this one a lot and would love to get my hands on it again! Thanks John (Irishsnake)!

Oaty twang malty aroma, with some chocolate and hops. Inky brown-black with beady brown head. Fair label. Licorice, moderately sweet, tangy over coffee. Medium-heavy body that somehow lightened towards the bottom of the bottle. Charred, roast nuts. Vanilla notes. Finishes out with a hop boldness. Quite good.

Pours a golden brown with a soft foamy caramel head. Sweet fruity pear, raisin aroma, fresh. Looks dark brown in the pint glass. Taste is a light bodied, chocolate, malty, with a gentle warming and little bitter aftertaste. The taste didn’t last long, kind of like water finishes....a clean, thin feel.

Bottle. Had this a few months back. Dark brown color, with a large off white head. Aroma was malty, and the flavor was the same with some bitterness.

Blind rating, bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, light brown, fully diminishing. Body is black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, coffee), with notes of leather and vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Fairly straightforward and a little tart, but pretty good.

Beer’s a nearly opaque, very dark brown color with a large, frothy, off-white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is very roasty with malty notes of heavy roasted grain, light notes of coffee, milk chocolate and molasses; Hoppy with a moderate note of resin/pine; Yeasty with a light note of dough; Moderate miscellaneous note of smoke/savory smoked meat, light note of alcohol. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter with a long, moderately-to-heavily bitter, lightly acidic, lightly sweet finish. The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is more than lively. Not a bad little Stoutie at all!

This sweet tout pours a deep black color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and some roasty malts. Kind of sweet. A medium bodied sweet stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee, touch of vanilla. Hops are earthy. Lots of roast coffee flavors as it warms, more in the middle of the taste than anywhere else. Perhaps a little thin in the mouth for a oatmeal stout, but works ok as a sweet stout. Nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
