Feb 13, 2007 Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, hops, and coffee. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of alcohol and grapefruit, leading to a dry roasted end with notes of oatmeal lingering around. The body is a bit on the thin side inspite of the 6.8% ABV and the oatmeal.

Feb 8, 2002 Updated: Jan 17, 2005(1/17/05) Small brown head atop red-tinged black body. Aroma is not very strong, coffee, chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, coffee, roasty, some chocolate. Fairly smooth medium body. Definitely not as good as in past years. (6/3/6/4/12).
(2/8/02) Nice dark good-headed roasted-malty hint-of-coffee smooth well-rounded stout. (7/4/8/4/15).
