Commercial Description:
Tröegs Pale Ale is an American style Pale Ale that is aggressively hopped with Northwest Cascades and balanced with Belgian crystal malts to create a hoppy, copper-colored crisp ale. An excellent example of a classic American Pale Ale.

A bit skunky for my taste, but wasn’t bothered by it through the entire beer as I usually am with skunky beers. Also pretty watery, which seemed to enhance that skunk.

Good quality and easy to go down, this beer’s got a good hoppiness in it and a moderate bitterness. It’s a little more watery than most pale ales, but it’s solid in flavor.

Pours golden in color with a nice white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and citrus. Flavor is more of the same but somewhat mild and subdued compared to other quality APA’s. Bitterness hangs on at the end. Good brew. Easy to drink. Definte session beer. Had this one after Mako’s baseball practice.

Bottle. Pours a deep transparent copper color with very minimal white head. Leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is of grainy malt and hops, and the hops are reflected strongly in the taste. There’s a fruity flavor that comes across the tongue first before the hops hit in full force. A bit on the thin side, very drinkable. I really enjoyed this beer.

Troegs Pale Ale ABV: 5.4% IBU: Calories: 150 Volume: 12 fl oz Glass: shaker Purchased at: Troegs sampler at Shop Rite Liquors in Hamilton, NJ Consumed on/at: 12:16 am on Saturday March 8th sensory first impression: My favorite hoppy aroma is cascade hops. Seems familiar and enticing. Clear and quiet like other Troegs. Also less watery than other Troegs, but not by much. Dull aftertaste is a bit disappointing. Lace is nice - hoppy bite after a second is nice. It’s just not Victory, not anywhere close to Rogue, and can’t begin to approach Stone. This particular beer isn’t bad though. If it were especially cheap, that would be okay, but it’s not really. Aroma/Olfactory: Malt flavor is: caramel, bread, hay, cereal, chocolate, coffee, nuts, toast, roasty Hop flavor is: floral, cascade, refreshing, but not overly bitter, which I miss. Lots of citrus here. Yeast flavor is: clay, basement, and mold. Other flavors include: woody, herby, and seedy. Visuals/Appearance: Color is: bright, clear amber-orange Liquid is: clear to a fault. Head and lace are: white, lacy, but wispy and thin. Taste/Flavor: Maltiness or Sweetness level is: light Hoppiness or Bitterness level is: medium Sour level is: very light Palate/Tactile: Body or Mouthfeel is: light Texture is: thin, sticky, a bit crisp at times. Carbonation is: soft to flat Finish is: longish, but ends up with watery overtones. Overall experience: Not a bad beer, unless you start comparing it to great beers. Better than Budweiser. Not a light beer. It’s not as delicious as Smuttynose IPA, which is where the line probably starts for me in Pale Ale style. I’d have it again, if it were the best choice in a crowd, I just wonder if that would happen.

Clear watery orange with white head and good lacing. Smell is actually quite doughy with very little hops. Taste is a hint doughy as well but it has a hop bite to it. A bit on the watery side for my liking. A very good representation of the style.

On draft in Alley Kat in Lancaster. Poured copper in color with a small white head. Aroma is of mild piney hops. I prefer more hops, but for what it is, it’s not too bad. I love cascade hops, so that’s a plus. Easy drinker.

This brew was decent for a pale ale. Nothing too crazy, a slightly above average taste. Nice color, good carbonation. Very easy to drink.
