Commercial Description:
Tröegs Pale Ale is an American style Pale Ale that is aggressively hopped with Northwest Cascades and balanced with Belgian crystal malts to create a hoppy, copper-colored crisp ale. An excellent example of a classic American Pale Ale.

How haven’t I rated this one yet? Amber color with a medium white head. Strong orange and lime citrus-hop aroma with some nice bready malt in there. Flavor is well-hopped with fresh citrus - lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit with some grassy hints. Nice bready, pale malt in there. Nice mouthfeel - always tasty and sessionable.

pours light oragne. Has hints of citrus. Very hoppy for a pale ale. Really well done. Would have this again.

Pours transparent, bright bronzey orange. Thin skin of white. Tea malt, cattiness and urinal waft first, followed by a pungent succession of old fruit juices. Peach and grapefruit most dominantly. Flavor is typical of the aggressively clean characteristic certain pale malt-powered examples highlight in excess. Very zesty and mineralistic with chlorine, hose water and lemongrass soap, though not in an astringent sense. Hop oils layer fairly thickly, though, with pine and grapefruit normalcy. Mango iced tea with a crisp crystal punch that’s not too likable. Citrus juices drown this out eventually, soothingly, though these don’t have much fresh vitality to give it some energy. Light palate with little dynamism. Bland. Nothing wrong, just very little right.

One of the hoppiest pale ales I have tried. Hoppy taste hits your mouth immediately and leaves the taste lingering. Very light color and strong texture make this beer very enjoyable.

poured into a pint. pours a clear orange copper with white fluffy head. plenty of bubbles, citrus fresh hoppy aroma. fresh front of initial hops and mild bitterness on front to refreshing light citrus finish. light more hops that citrus, loose full palate , refreshing but low overall complexity.

12 oz. bottle, no freshness date, sampled in a pint glass. Orange hued copper in color, slightly hazy, small white head that dissipated in a thin sudsy lacing, not much in the way of sticking. Mildly hoppy nose, floral and citrus along with a spicy leafiness. The malts provide a light backing, mainly Crystal sweet caramel malt. Velvety smooth, creamy medium body, from all the flowing micro bubbles in the initial pour, I was worried the carbonation would be too active, but it is actually quite nice, soft. Mild rolling bitterness from the hops, sweet floral leafy, orange citrus that provides a little sourness, a delicate spiciness in the finish. A genial maltiness, sweet and sugary from the Pilsener and Crystal malts, bare traces of caramel. Finishes dry in the palate, the kind of dryness that makes you want another taste. An enjoyable and quaffable APA, I wish this was available in my area.

On tap at Mad Mex, 9/26/07. Slightly hazy deep gold color with dense long lasting stark white foam, very nice lacing. Aroma is a little flat, but what do you expect from a good APA? Some light hoppiness and some crystal malts. Flavor is just a damn near perfect balance of crystal malts and US hops, very drinkable and very enjoyable. Gotta give some props to this, I’ve had it before and never been impressed, it got me tonight.

12 Oz Bottle. Lightly subdued grapefruit in jelly, wisping of hop vines. Nice tinted gold pour, lightly hazed with a good finger of soapy, fading head. Good lacing. Flavor is a standard, yet well played west coast hop machine, heavy in rich juicy flavor and complex pale fruits. Palate lies a little flat, carbonation a little low. Good sugar profile, but not overly sticky. Well brewed, however standard.
