Commercial Description:
Tröegs Pale Ale is an American style Pale Ale that is aggressively hopped with Northwest Cascades and balanced with Belgian crystal malts to create a hoppy, copper-colored crisp ale. An excellent example of a classic American Pale Ale.

Pours a clear golden copper with plenty of sunshiney elements. FLuffy off-white head sits proudly. Laces in soapy residues. Fresh aromas of juicy citrus and some pine. Firm flavor of biscuity malt and more citrus hoppiness. Faint sopainess and perfume in the background post-swallow. Quite thirst-quenching and satisfying. So very drinkable. This one is a winner.

First heard of this brewery from brother Jer...12 oz. bottle from a sampler poured into a shaker...solid copper body with even, strong two-finger head--attractive indeed...appropriate hops, though understated...a palate approach that rivals Sierra Nevada...a solid taste that softens with each sip...enjoyable from top to bottom.

Bottle from yobdoog, thank you Trevor! Poured a rich and clear copper color whit a foamy white head with good retention. Complex smell of sweet hops, buttery malts mixed in with a backdrop of spicy hops. A flavor of butter toffee with spicy hop character with minor notes of apricot, left an aftertaste that was buttery and pleasant. Not a big fan of pale ales, but this one was very drinkable, you know the hops are there, but they don’t punch you in the mouth. Very pleasant and smooth drinking.

Bottle from hopdog. Thanks Steve! Pour is golden with a small whiye head and good lacing that lasts throughout. Nose is hoppy and slightly malty. Flavor is well balanced and perfect for an APA. Not too hoppy, not too malty. Easy drinking and nice on a hot summer day.

This beer pours a nice golden to light amber color with a quality head that leaves sexy lacing. Smells of hops. Tastes of hops with a little citrusy edge to it. It is pretty close to an IPA and judging by the alcohol content of the beer, it is right on the line betweem the two styles.

Had this on tap at Fuel and Fuddle where it was called Pumphouse Pale Ale. I know this is listed under the APA style but I’ll have you know from beginning to end this stuff is IPA. Has an appearance that is just a little more colorful than the ubiquitous american lager. Beer is very hoppy flavored with lots of hop aroma. Am I chewing on green grapefruit rinds? Of course not but the long bitter lingering aftertaste of this stuff would lead you into believing that. Hops, Hops and more hops. Did I say this was hoppy? I would disagree that this is an excellent example of APA.

Clear, filtered pale body with a large, creamy white head. The aroma is light with grapefruit, apricot and caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with grapefruit and light caramel. Medium/light body is very thin and watery. This might have been good, but is obvious that the heavy filtration of this beer has destroyed it.

Bottle. Clear, shiny burnt-orange with a medium and lasting head. Aroma is sweetened grapefruit and pine. Flavor begins as an excellent balance of malt and hops, turning slowly towards a bitter-citrus hop finish. Definitely hop-dominated, but done well. Palate is smooth, light-medium bodied and slightly dry. Excellent APA.
