Commercial Description:
Tröegs Pale Ale is an American style Pale Ale that is aggressively hopped with Northwest Cascades and balanced with Belgian crystal malts to create a hoppy, copper-colored crisp ale. An excellent example of a classic American Pale Ale.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry -- courtesy of Thaichile. Pours a slightly hazy amber-gold with a small diminishing, kind of creamy, off-white head. Nice aroma of funky U.K. hops with an equal amount of sweet malt. Flavour of piney and citrus hops nicely balanced by sweet malt with a pleasant, short bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, it’s a little thin. A simple but pleasant session Ale and a nice example of the style.

Bottle. Pours pale amber wiith a nice frothy diminishing white head. Aroma of floral hops, fresh bread, and toasted malts. Light texture, almost british like in mouthfeel. Flavor has a earthy, tea like maltiness offset by a spicy hop bitterness. Thin texture in the semi dry finish, but with nice lingering hop bitterness that lightly sticks to the back of the mouth. Some hairspray like flavors in the finish, which was distracting. However, I have a sneaking suspicion this bottle is a little old considering the source. I plan to try a fresh one. Still not bad though. I would classify this as an offspring of an american and british pale.

Pours a translucent lighter golden amber with an average slightly foamy and lightly lacing head that retained. Aroma of a sweeter citrus, grains, and a sweeter crystal malt. Flavor of a citrus/pine hop then a sweet malty balance, some grass and I also was picking up a slight metallic and light bitterness at the end of the taste. A bit on the thin side.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, his bottle. Hazy amber-gold, small white head. Funky herbal hop aroma, light malt, dry grain. Taste is grainy-herbal hops, lightly citrus, long mildly bitter finish, pleasant. Average body at best, astringent and nicely carbonated, balanced, definitely more UK style to me - liked it.

After multiple tastings, this one has grown on me. Pours golden with some orange hues, respectable head, decent lacing. The aroma was typical, some citrus hops. The flavor was citrus over top of a clear crysal malt present, a very nice combination. Mouthfeel was typical. My kind of pale ale, although arguable a touch on the sweet side.

Bottled. Beer was clear, medium gold with a small, frothy, off-white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma was moderately malty with notes of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; moderately hoppy with notes of herb, lemon, apricot and resin/pine; lightly yeasty with a note of sweet dough; trace note of cola. The flavor was lightly sweet, lightly acidic and moderately bitter with an average-length, lightly bittersweet, trace acidic finish. The body was light, the texture was watery and the carbonation was lively. Light astringency to the finish.

Bottle. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin), moderately yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A biting, yeasty affair. Not enjoyable.
