Not all that bitter to start. a mild flavors of ash/smoke in there as well, which really threw me off. palate is lighter than the other 3 troegs i have had. fairly boring flavors and not that all interesting. highly alcoholic in the aroma as well, which really threw me for a loop. the only strike in the 4 troegs beers i sampled. jcwattsrugger (5532), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 7, 2005 12 oz bottle-pours a foamy white head, color is clear gold. Aroma is hops, clean hops. Taste is hops, good carbonation. Finish has a little flatness. This detractor became less apparent as I drank through the beer. Good, middle of the class, but a bit disappointing. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear copper with a thin head that dissipates to nothing in about a minute. Nice balance between hops and malt. A fairly solid pale ale, although certainly not one of the best I’ve tried. Foxbush (460), Richmond, Virginia, USA

The Ale poured with a frothy white head. The head stayed throughout the experience. The hoppiness was evident but it was well balanced with malt flavors. My last Troegs beverage was terrible. This is a crisp ale that I enjoyed while watching the MNF game on 10/3. michaeltrego (101), Amherst, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2005 A nicely balanced, yet hoppy ale. Copper colored with a nice head (although a bit too carbonated for my taste), and a medium malty/bitter flavor. Nice. walleye (881), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

I keep hoping Penn beer will get better....but it still hovers around average. An average pale ale. Slightly hopping, but also better than most commercial brew.
