| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 3, 2007 12 Oz Bottle. Nibbling British cookie and Moroccan sugar aroma. Soft and quiet. Pours a middle brown with creamy off-white head. Flavor is dominating by singular caramelization. Too much of some specialty malt. Edges into charred bitterness. There’s a whirl of nuttiness playing with some earthy, herbal hops, but the glowing toasted quality outshines and makes it tough to drink this too much. Mineral tones from yeast and alcohol soften the beer a little, but it doesn’t gain a lot of ground. Crawls out the door on a light biscuit suite. Yeah, it’s a brown ale. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Clear, dark brown pour with a healthy light tan head and nice lace in a tulip glass. Caramel, roasted nuts, and a bit of spiciness in the aroma. Smooth, lightly carbonated, and a medium body. The malty sweetness is tempered by a softly bitter hoppiness, although I wouldn’t call the finish dry. Still, this is an easy drinking, flavorful beer. Seems like it’s becoming harder to find good, basic, simple session beers. This fits the bill. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA

Clear appearance when you hold it up to the light, otherwise, a deep rich looking reddish hued dark brown. Pale tan head that slowly dissipated in a creamy, bubbly topped lacing with a small amount of sticking.
Mild roasted malty nose, traces of caramel, cocoa and nuts. A little Fuggles fruitiness, a sweet tropical, hang out in the background. This has the smells one expects in a good brown ale.
Well rounded feel in the palate, quite smooth, making this very sessionable. Nice mild roasted malt flavors, caramel and hints of chocolate. The proper soft Fuggles hoppiness, tropical and aniseedy, providing an amiable bitterness. Finishes with a dry roasted nutty maltiness along with a little aniseed spiciness.
True to the English Brown Ale style, in ways a simple one, but with a balanced flavorful taste.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Nice brown color, slightly toasty malt but not overwhelming. Relatively bland in other respects, very little hops, certainly not bad, just fairly non-descript. webjedi (249), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Waaay too peanut shell aftertaste. Slight sweetness to offset it. A little thin on the mouth given it’s a nut brown. Just a slight bit of butteryness with a light hop bitter. Not as creamy as described above... probably better I had it on tap at the brewery, I doubt this would taste better bottled... nut, but not the right type of nut for me! | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 12, 2007 From bottle into pint glass. Nice sweet caramel and malt nose. Thin head dissipated quickly. No residual lacing. Deep, rich brown color. Caramel and malt follow through in the flavor along with a really nice chocolate note. Medium-bodied with a slightly sweet finish that leaves me wanting more.
