| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Dark brown appearance, medium tan head, little lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, hints of coffee, with late developing nuttiness. Taste seems dead on for the style: malty, noticable nut-like quality, mild sweetness, with enough hops to add balance. Medium-bodied with a soft, sweet, lingering finish. ealdent (45), Cumming, Georgia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 21, 2006 Fairly typical brown ale that is not entirely bad and not entirely good. It’s fairly weak in body and while the aroma is good, it left an unpleasant sour taste. nick76 (2682), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 13, 2006 The aroma has caramel, toffee, chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, and a tiny bit of hops. The appearance is brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma but with some unpleasant vinegar. The palate is thin. This one had lots of potential and I was excited after getting a whiff but I don’t think it lives up to it’s potential. RyanTHC (38), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 4, 2006 starts off with nice head that dissapates soon like most troegs do.. a good slightly above average brown ale. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 4, 2006 Updated: Sep 8, 2006eh, not really that great. Dark brown, obviously. Very nutty but light in body. Just kind of nutty but little of anything else. It’s always been a weak style, and I use the Rogue nut brown as my archetype but this falls short. A lot better than most nut browns but I still can’t figure out when I’d actually want to drink a nut brown. Rerate. eh, this is just kind of chalky and thin in texture. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Pours clear brown with a big chunky tan head.
Sweet caramel aroma with a hint of ashy smoke.
The flavor was a big letdown and didn’t match what the aroma had hinted to.
There’s some initial sourness at the sides of the tongue that diminishes with following sips. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2006 A relaxing, subtle, hazelnut prailene aroma. Lightly chewy in the mouth, with a bit too much bite, though a balanced, gentle flavor, slighty roasty, burnt. This would be a great brown if it didn’t have the cold, CO2 bite. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2006 Pour is a translucent dark brown with a medium head that dies quickly and leaves just a hint of lacing. Aroma is grainy-with hints of chocolate, toasted nuts and yeast. Flavor is good, much of the same but comes off slighly watery.
