Nut brown not my favorite, and this is no surprise, for better or worse. Some dry malt, some classic British hops, but neither intensity nor complexity. Dark-brown in color but no distinct nutty malt characteristics which are what make a "nut" brown ale. Very light on the palate. This brown ale could be enjoyed on a hot summer day. Lightweight!! Aroma of nuts and roast. Flavor is bitter and roast. Too bitter for me. bubbleflubber (897), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 19, 2006 The pour contains a nice medium tan head that slowly dissipates. It represents a deep ruby color. There’s an ever-so-slight hazelnut scent. Very light roasted flavor with continued hazelnut, dark chocolate and small nut contingency. Finishes medium-thin with an effervescent coffee the longer you wait. Not bad, but not the best offering from Tröegs. Seems a bit blandly overcarbonated for the genre. I will admit, the brew does get better as it warms. The flavor and aromas begin to enhance one another once they have the chance to breathe. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2006 Thick pour with a dark brown color, ¼” head. Well carbonated and full bodied. Smooth going down with an average ale flavor. I expected much more nut flavor to it. Great brew, I will defiantly buy this again.
