Commercial Description:
Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture.

Rugged Trail feels like I am hiking in the Appalachians. The nutty character and slight smoky nature has some nice sweetness as well.

On draft at Just Sports with Stegosaurus. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma of nuts and roast. Flavor is bitter and roast. Too bitter for me.

The pour contains a nice medium tan head that slowly dissipates. It represents a deep ruby color. There’s an ever-so-slight hazelnut scent. Very light roasted flavor with continued hazelnut, dark chocolate and small nut contingency. Finishes medium-thin with an effervescent coffee the longer you wait. Not bad, but not the best offering from Tröegs. Seems a bit blandly overcarbonated for the genre. I will admit, the brew does get better as it warms. The flavor and aromas begin to enhance one another once they have the chance to breathe.

Thick pour with a dark brown color, ¼” head. Well carbonated and full bodied. Smooth going down with an average ale flavor. I expected much more nut flavor to it. Great brew, I will defiantly buy this again.

Strong hoppy aroma. Pours a rich dark brown color with thin white head. Taste is almost a bit of hazelnut with some chocolate. Rich texture and a great drinking beer.

I really liked this beer. Had a good combination of sweet and slight bitterness. Definite combination of coffee and nuts, maybe a hazelnut coffee! Slight chocolatiness too. But nothing is too heavy, don’t get the wrong idea! The body is very smooth, and can be consumed ANY time of the year without peril! An excellent ale.

A good roasted nut aroma. A dark bronze color with no head. This beer is thin and a little bitter. It offers a mild nutty taste that fades smoothly.
