| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 3, 2009 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a dark brown to just short of black with a just off-white head that disappears within 90 seconds. The initial nose of a small amount of caramel gives way to earthy hops. The carbonation level is just about perfect for the style. Hops come across the palate first, followed by chocolate malt (maybe pale chocolate?) and either special roast or maybe Victory malt. In any case, the English character malts fill the flavor out and add enjoyable, if slightly too restrained caramel, dark chocolate, and molasses flavors. Overall, a very subtle, very English, and pretty decent brown ale. DeadGirl (242), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA

Pours like coke, tastes like watered down chocolate with some hazelnuts thrown in the mix. Standard for a brown ale. Nothing to boost about. Easy to drink but also easy to forget. #038 on 30062009, DG. bobbypaulson (100), , Minnesota, USA

This is a nice brew. Not heavy on any one particular aspect. Good, well balanced flavor without being too boring. It has a nice sweet roasted malt flavors and a ltittle bitterness too. This is a very drinkable brown ale. Hmmm. I just drain it all and dont have anymore. shadey (1500), Rochester, New York, USA
