Commercial Description:
Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture.

bottle poured a chestnut brown color with a thin off white head. aroma has roasted malt, chocolate, and nuts. mouth feel is on the light side and the carbonation is low. flavor is in line with the nose and the roast is at a session level. very nice light chocolate and a finish with mild bitterness and nuts.

This is one of my fav from Troegs. As Nut browns go this is a good example of the style. Nutty brown in color with a decent creamy tan head. the beer has a good roasted malty aroma and the taste is smooth with the same nutty and malt balance from the scent. The feel is smooth and tasty

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown color with thin tan head. Smell of malts, chocolate and some nuts. Taste is much better than smell, rich chocolate malts with touch of herbs and spices. Balanced and smooth. Overall solid brown ale.

Reddish brown pour with a minimal and rapidly disappearing head. Malty smell with maybe a hint of some nutty flavor. Too metallic in the mouth for me, and a definite disappointment as my first beer from a brewery I have heard so many good things about.

12oz Bottle: Dark brown w/ a nice brown sugar head that leaves a little lacing behind as it dissipates. Aroma has a hint of chocolate, roasted malts & a slight nuttiness. Flavor is roasted malts, coffee & just a bit of chocolate. Very smooth, but a bit on the thin side. Dry, slightly metallic finish. Easy drinker.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, cocoa, burnt caramel, nuts, chocolate, and slight hops. Poured mahogany brown/ruby in color with a small to medium-sized tan head that diminished but left a nice head-film that lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of burnt malts, cocoa, cream, milk chocolate, slight coffee, light nuts, and slight hops. Medium body. Smooth, creamy texture. Soft to average carbonation. Cocoa, roasted malt, and slight nut finish is a bit chalky.

Bottle. Pours brown with a beige head. Nutty aroma with nice roasted malt. The flavor is lightly roasted with some nuttiness and very low bitterness, with a short finish.
