gpekar (149), Maryland, USA Jul 6, 2008 Updated: Jul 12, 2008 Poured a dark brown cola color with some orange/red highlights at the edges of the glass. There was a 1" tan head that disappated about 1/2 way through the glass. There was nice lacing while the head remand. There was a mild nutty aroma and some sweetness. There was a good nutty flavor and a slightly dry finish. Hints of chocolate were detected in the aroma and flavor as I was drinking through the glass. At only 4.4% ABV this is a good beer to have over & over. From a variety pack
blipp (957), Grand Island, New York, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours brown with a beige head. Nutty aroma with nice roasted malt. The flavor is lightly roasted with some nuttiness and very low bitterness, with a short finish. Derek881 (371), Frederick, Maryland, USA Nov 1, 2008 I had this beer on draft at a restaurant in Gettysburg, PA. The beer had a dark brown color with a tan, creamy head that had good cling and retention. The aroma was a mixture of chocolate and caramel malt notes with nutty scents present too. It had a sweet, slightly nutty taste with only a bit of bitterness. The body was slightly on the thinner side, a bit wet and watery, without a lot of feel. A decent, but not memborable beer. KornDogg (39), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 12, 2008 This was the first beer I had ever had from Troegs and right away I knew they were a solid brewery... Nutty, roasty flavor with hints of sweet caramel.. a lot better then most brown ales unclemike (418), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Oct 1, 2008 Clear amber-brown body with a fading, sudsy beige head. Sweet warm caramel and toffee aroma. Flavor has notes of caramel, light fruit, and chocolate with a subtle edge of roast in the finish. Medium sweet and pleasant. A nice brown ale and another solid beer from Tröegs Naka (445), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2008 Pours a very dark brown color with a small light beige fizzy head that disappears quickly. The aroma is kind of like a hazelnut latte. A roasty coffee with some definite sweetness. The flavor is pretty much the same. It has some coffee, brown sugar... almost like something from the Nutty Bavarian. The body is kind of light, but overall, it is a good traditional brown ale without feeling it necessary to completely over-hop it.
