Very earthy aroma with grass, molasses and some coffee. Not too sweet, touch of some umami and a decent butter coffee finish. Decent beer but nothing too complex. Decent carb on tongue and very drinkable.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 20, 2009 The aroma was nuts, chocolate. The flavor is a weaker version of the aroma, notes of nuts, chocolate, but not very flavorful. The finish was like noble hops bittering. Medium to medium thick mouthfeel. Ok, not great for a style I normally enjoy. tarheels86 (799), Washington DC, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Dec 6, 2009 355mL. Pours a clear, deep reddish amber with practically no head that dissipates quickly. No lacing. Aroma is pretty much nothing. There is some weak toast, biscuit. Taste is burnt toast water. Watery body. Weak. If I blind tasted this I would have probably said O’douls Amber. watson1977 (279), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 6, 2009 pours a deep chestnut color with a medium with a medium tan head...dissipates quickly. aroma is lightly roasty with some malty sweetness to it...caramely? all in all aroma is very faint. flavor is also malty and lightly roasty but has a slight metallic quality and chalkiness. not as flavorful as i hoped it owuld be. mouthfeel is light and lively but the chalky, roasted finish thins out too much for my taste. not quite as good overall as i hoped it would be... weihenweizen (45), West Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2009 12 oz. bottle. A little more hoppy than some of the other brown ales. Pours dark brown with very little head, a little lacing. The taste is medium bitter roasted nuttiness. Pretty good for the style. Cakes (56), New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, USA

A thin creamy brown head.
Dark brown in appearance.
Not at all bitter. Light for a dark beer, like an American ale should be.
A rather nice pour. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
