Commercial Description:
Scratch #14-2008 is our interpretation of a farmhouse ale—a once near-extinct winter-brewed (and summer–imbibed) Belgian ale. celebratory brew starts with a black pepper and ginger nose. The nicely carbonated brew releases a honey-malt flavor that gives way to a tart crisp finish that masks the elevated ABV. We use a blended yeast strain (Saison Dupont & Le Chouffe) to create the traditional peppery, spicy earthy flavors of the saison. Slight hints of ginger also come through in the finish. Drink it ‘til the wedding bells chime!

O.G.: 15.4 Plato
I.B.U.’s: 25
Malt: Pils, Munich, Vienna
Yeast: Belgian/Saison Blend
Juju: Ginger
Hops: English Pilgrim, Saaz

Wow what a beer. I think this came from beachbum25 and a HUGE thanks. Very cloudy yellowish color with a small whitsh head. Aroma is super yeasty, fruity and a bit spicy. Flavor is so smooth and yeasty. Some spices, some bread, wow....simply wow. The mouthfeel is amazing.

Thanks to Rich for the bottle. Poured healthy medium golden with a dense cap of creamy white head.. lovely pour. The aroma picked up soft fruity and floral notes topped with peppery spices and orange zest.. balance was delicate and enjoyable. The flavor had bready and honey notes at the core.. the fruits and flowers from the nose were more accents and slightly bitter here.. orange zest and vanilla around.. finished with fine balance between sweet and tangy character. Medium-bodied with thick carbonation on the palate.. this beer just rolled across the tongue.. spicy and refreshing on the finish. I really dug this one!

12 oz bottle shared by csbosox. 14-2008 stamped on the label. Pour is a cloudy yellow, golden orange and straight juice orange. Smallish white head. Aroma of spicy earthiness, malt grain, citrus lemon. There is also a spicy component of cloves and white pepper. There is a bunch going on in the nose, and it all comes together quite nicely. Taste is wheat, malt grain, lemon / orange citrus, and the spiciness of the cloves. Nice yeast expression. Palate is medium body, though still light tasting with active carbonation. Nice one. Tangy zesty earthy after taste lingers. Really nice one, thanks for sharing this Chris.

Bottle. Aroma of banana-clove-bubblegum combo, doughy malt, sprightly citrus (light orange, more lemon), dank, wet-grass hops. Flavor has many of the citrus notes, quite sweet, with a hop balance that increases to the point that the finish is earthy, and lightly bitter. More than an admirable effort for an American saison.

12oz bottle I recieved as an extra in a trade recetly. Poured a murky golden color with a thin white head. Tastes of banana and spices are very much present. Great beer, I wish I had more.

My bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of TheEpeeist. Pours a hazy bubbly gold with an average size foamy white head. Aroma’s awesome, it’s spicy, fruity and yeasty along with some wheat and floral hops. Delicious flavour of Belgian yeast, spices, lots of fruit, some sweetness and a lightly bitter, dry spicy finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. I loved it!
