The aroma is toasted malts, light hops, and some nutty notes. The flavor is nice; initial Amarillo hops, caramel, light toasted malts, light fruit and nuts. Easygoing but full flavored. Overall, a nice brew. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

Malt, cider, roast, and some plastic aroma leads to an odd flavor that seems to be some type of artificial something. The hops don’t meld well. The malt bill is ok. I didn’t have much fun with this one. GAManiac (1184), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Pours a clear copper with a small cream-colored head that recedes to a big, bubbly collar and leaves decent lacing.
The aroma is musty with some earthy hops and a caramel malt sweetness. It’s pretty tame but not too bad in the nose.
The taste is fairly light with a bit of hop bitterness up front. There is some caramel malt and sugary sweetness with a hint of chocolate as well. There is a bitterness that lingers in the finish but without the hop flavors I was expecting.
The mouthfeel is a bit thin with average carbonation and fairly dry in the finish.
This is a pretty nondescript winter warmer that has a tame mix of hops and caramel malts without bringing anything too interesting to the table. Pretty good. Rciesla (3750), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours a mahogany amber brown body with a thin tan head. Sweet chewy malt aroma with a hint of apple. Light earth and pine. Molasses roasty coffee hints a light note of honey. Finish is dry and very english like. It’s slightly reminiscent of a sammy smith brew but i cant put my finger on which one. Pastor (509), Maine, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Thanks to Dim for sending this want along. 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass it produced a quickly lasting white head that trailed of to a ring of lace around the glass. The color of the body though is a beautiful maroon color
The aromas are interesting malty- citrus kind of strange for a winter warmer but interesting. The flavor is a bitter hoppiness the more I drink this I am thinking it is a winter IPA more than a traditional winter warmer. This brew is medium in the mouth not much carbonation.
I’d drink it again but not one of my favorite in the scratch series.

Dark red-orange with a finger of light tan head that leaves light crunchy lacing. Weak aroma but some grassy herbal hops and some caramel. Flavor is more caramel, some more floral English hops, some spicy sweetness and nutty molasses. Not that nice. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Reddish color with a mildly hoppy aroma, some caramel and sugar sweetness enter the nose but are rather weak. Flavor has some heavy burnt caramel malts, sugar, and floral hops. Not terrible, but whats the point of this one?
