Commercial Description:
Scratch #16-2008 combines the bitterness of two aroma hops, the lush sweetness of honey and malt and an earthly yeast taste creating a Winter Warmer designed to ward off the coldest days. The dark, rich amber color comes from a combination of molasses and crystal malts; the Thames Valley brings a distinct earthly flavor; white the blend of hops creates fruity (Amarillo) and piney (Cluster) bitterness. The Winter Warmer ends with a slight warming sensation from the elevated alcohol content. Enjoy this one throughout the winter months.

this was okay, I thought the body was a bit thin, bit of a sweet taste to it, had an ending alcohol presence.

Growler from brewery. Pours a clear, dark brown with amber hues. Average tan, frothy head with good retention and excellent lacing. The aroma is a faint, sweet maltiness. Flavor is a molasses kind of sweetness followed by a piney bitterness. Medium body. Dry, slightly warming finish. A perfect choice as I just finished shoveling snow.

12oz bottle. Pours cola colored brown. Aromas of sweet malts, piney hops. Taste is malt heavy, hop bitterness, & some wierd plastic taste that lingers on the palate.

On draft at the brewery, poured dark brown with no head. Aroma was malty, sweet. The beer had a nice maltiness to it, balanced nicely by hops with rich caramelly notes. Seemed like a naked version of the mad elf to me, no honey and no cherries. Simple, but well brewed, this is a solid beer.

12oz bottle. Poured a deeper orange color, almost brown, with a smaller sized of white head. Lacing left on the glass. Aromas of earthiness, caramel, toffee, toasty, and somewhat nutty. Tastes of caramel, toffee, nutty, doughy, and pine. A little fruitiness in the tastes as well.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber/brown with a small tan head. Aroma of toasted and sweet malts. Flavor is rather earthy and malty initially, with a salty, sort of like a hearty chicken soup, finish. An interesting beer but I didn’t get much hops from this. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

This is pretty good stuff. I like the style. My first crack at one of the scratch series. Finished a 6 of this over Xmas. Pretty hoppy I think, but flavorful and easy going down. This is a disjointed review. I apologize.
