The nose is malt and funky hops – must be the rye – sort of smells like ass to be honest. The taste is earthy hops, malt and medium level resin in the finish. Medium, creamy body. Decent, but not in the same stratosphere as Nugget Nectar. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of perfumy and floral hops with some citrus, but largely bogged down by a hay/grain malt character. Hops pop a bit more in the flavor, more citrus and cleaner floral notes, but I still want more. Just ok for an IPA. WeeHeavySD (3002), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Nose is sweet and citrussy. Taste is sweet and a bit of rye and overall doesn’t do it for me. LilBeerDoctor (1508), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy dirty orange with a small ring of white head. Aroma of sweet perfume and fruits. Flavor is sweet at first with a floral hops finish. Some lemon/ iced tea like notes and some tangerine/citrus notes too. Definitely an herbal/spicy tone to the beer. An odd IPA, certainly different for the style, but pretty good too.

Poured a hazy golden color with a large frothy white head that was mostly lasted and had excellent lacing. Medium to heavy complex hop aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Good complex brew and standout for style. Rciesla (3719), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Bottle. Pours a murky orange body with a spotty white head. Pine and rye seeds, some malt. Nice aromatics a bit bready. Citrus and floral notes with a strong earthy bitterness a bit soapy. Mild etoh warming but well masked by hops and rye. Interesting stuff, i really enjoyed the rye and hop character without a big malt profile to ruin the beer. Had to come back and add a note has a very nice honey character that happened half way through the glass, very delicious stuff +1. MrBunn (1542), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Bottle. Pours a light orange with lots of carbonation, a big and dense head and wonderfully hoppy aromas. These aren’t your brusque and aggressive hops, but rather a fruit basket of citrus and floral hops. There is just a touch of something a little odd in the nose, however. I’m wondering if it is from the rye. Flavor is a shaper hops... pine and citrus with just the right amount of malt to balance it out. This is an odd experience since the hops in the nose don’t seem to match the hops that hit the palate, but it is still very nice.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 22, 2009 Growler from the brewery. Pours a hazy amber-orange color with an average foamy off-white head that leaves good lacing on the glass. The aroma is orange, grapefruit, and pine. Flavor is an orange citrus balanced by a malty sweetness and ending with a grapefruity finish. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Another excellent IPA from the Trogner Brothers.
