Commercial Description:
We started with the same grain bill as Scratch #12 (IPA) and substituted 25% rye for the base malt giving Scratch #18 a creamy mouth feel and a full-bodied taste. Mount Hood and Chinook hops are combined here for flavoring and aroma, and Warrior hops are used for overall bitterness. The rye plays off the Mount Hood hops, with both ingredients releasing an herbal, spicy flavor.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and hazy golden/orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of juicy oranges, citrus, lightly spicy, rye, and light caramel. Tastes of citrus, pine, caramel, spices, and some rye breadiness.

Bottle… Clear golden ale with very little in the way of a head. The nose is a nice biscuit and fruit blend – tropical fruit, grapefruit. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Leans a touch toward the bitter side of balance, but it’s not over-hopped or overblown. Nice toffee and grapefruit. Lengthy grassy finish. Kudos to mgumby10 for the sample!

Cloudy amber. Rye is very distinct in the nose. Some dried orange peel, caramel, toffee, the Warrior hops are caustic, toasty, bready, corn-like and husky. Creamy and thick. Syrupy and frothy. Husky rye and toasted grains, some dried citrus... little bit of barkdust flavor at times. Stale bread and soggy wood come to mind. Not one of their best beers. Not anything like how I like IPA.

Bottle shared alexsdad06. Poured a hazy golden color with a large frothy white head that was mostly lasted and had excellent lacing. Medium to heavy complex hop aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew and standout for style.

Bottle thanks to Rich! Poured near-clear medium orange with a medium, well-retained cap of whitish head. The aroma picked up biscuity malts topped by resiny pine and floral character.. smelled like it had a touch of oxidation to it, but that didn’t hurt it much. The flavor had the same biscuity malts along with some caramel at the core.. grainy, resiny hoppage surrounded in the form of pine and grapefruit meat plus added peppery rye that stuck on the finish. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate, and grainy as mentioned.. balance was alright, but it was kind of sharp at times.

Bottle. Pours a murky orange body with a spotty white head. Pine and rye seeds, some malt. Nice aromatics a bit bready. Citrus and floral notes with a strong earthy bitterness a bit soapy. Mild etoh warming but well masked by hops and rye. Interesting stuff, i really enjoyed the rye and hop character without a big malt profile to ruin the beer. Had to come back and add a note has a very nice honey character that happened half way through the glass, very delicious stuff +1.
