Commercial Description:
For the third scratch beer, we delved into our old Belgian notes and decided to go big for a nice warming feeling when you drink this beer,” says John Trogner. “This unfiltered golden ale is 10.1% abv. It is spicy and quite dry with a hint of noble hops. The yeast is the real flavor in this beer and we used a different yeast strain than we use for The Mad Elf. This yeast creates that drier taste.

Bottle from Zathrus. poured relatively clear yellow, but did cloud up in the glass a little bit. Descent half inch thick head. Nose was yeast, spicy, banana as well as other light fruits mingled together. I was astonished when I saw it had 10abv. Well hidden throughout. Went down real nice, and was very enjoyable. Now to get my hands on scratch 4.

GABF ’07. Pours yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, hay, straw), average hops (herbs), average yeast (earth) with notes of banana. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Draft at KSBF07. Pour was well-carbonated cloudy golden appearance. The aroma was firm grassy hop presence over top of the usual fruity-banana ester, phenolic-clovey spice combo. The flavor was sharply clove-like phenols, some bananas, finishing with some grassy character. It seemed like a cranked up version of their hefeweizen. Desired more spicey zing.

12 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a hazy light golden color with a thin white head that faded pretty quick. Has a big bread and veggie aroma. Flavor is grain and esters. Medium body. The alcohol kicks in toward the finish. Would have never guessed it was an Abbey Tripel. Still, a decent beer. Thanks Jason.
