Commercial Description:
For the third scratch beer, we delved into our old Belgian notes and decided to go big for a nice warming feeling when you drink this beer,” says John Trogner. “This unfiltered golden ale is 10.1% abv. It is spicy and quite dry with a hint of noble hops. The yeast is the real flavor in this beer and we used a different yeast strain than we use for The Mad Elf. This yeast creates that drier taste.

This was a great Triple. I got to drink it at the brewery while talking to John Trogner, and hear all about the inspiration and brewing of this beer. I had myself just picked up some belgian ingrediants at the homebrew shop before stopping in. Beer poured with a firm head, and was bright with highlights of yellow and orange. Spiciness seeped out of the aroma with some clove character as well as some hints of malt. Flavor is great, can’t taste that 10.1% which is a bit scary, very dry and extreamly drinkable with a hint of noble hops, and lovely spicy flavors, and just a hint of honey in the background of a firm malty base. Lovely mouth coating medium palate. One of my favorite Tripels. Hope more people get to try it

Bottle from Bendo and served in my NB Worthy glass: Pours a cloudy gold hue with small floaties, fading frothy last with a ring of foam, spotty lace. The aroma has notes of candi sugar, peanut brittle, apricot and banana esters, sweet bread, a herbal hop. The taste starts fruity and malty sweet with a hint of bready goodness. The midsection is a tad yeasty and even wheaty before heading off towards a lightly spiced finish. A touch phenolic as well. The mouth feel is slightly sticky and lush but there is a fair amount of carbonation and bright alcohol to keep it from being cloy. A solid Tripel that could even be better in a year.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow-orange with a medium white head. Unfiltered with a few hops abound. Spicy aroma of cloves, plantains, lemongrass, yeast and bubblegum. Taste is spicy with hints of banana, cloves, lemon, fresh yeast and a bubble gummy finish. Nice.

Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid deep goldish canary color with 2-finger off-white head and some floaties. The aroma was floral and spicy, with bready candi sugary malt, Saazy hops, and quite a bit of apricotty and peachy fruit notes. The flavor was on the candi sugary sweet side, even a bit cloying at first, with a lot of candi sugary malts, honey, peach, pear, and mid-palate floral and spicy notes. This is a solidly complex tripel that I enjoyed a lot.

Pours gold with a white bolloey head. Smells soapy and dry with some candi sugar and pepper. Tastes spicy and dry with some grassy elements and a nice touch of sweetness on the finish.

i thought this was a good tripes considering how smooth it was yet it was about 10%. Has a bit of a cloudy yellowish colour, not much of an aroma, maybe sweet malt to it, taste was a bit of sweet malts with a bit of spice, not anything too prevelant, but it was very smooth and easy drinking.

12 oz bottle shared by dickinsonbeer. very hazy light golden in color. Aroma is pretty yeasty with some must, spices, light citrus and banana- very nice. Taste is somewhat sweet, yet very yeast driven- musty, spices, bready with sugary notes as well as pils malt and citrus fruit. Finishes bready, spicy, and lightly sweet.
