Commercial Description:
Enjoy this as a token of our appreciation. With the demise of Tröegs Oatmeal Stout, this long-forgotten recipe serves as an inspiration and a heartfelt thanks to our faithful stout fans.

What’s special here? We start with a seductive malty sweetness, combine it with hints of chocolate and roasted flavors and round out the texture and taste with a healthy helping of oats. A three-hop blend brings perfect balance to the sweet malt adding a dry finish to this big beer.

Bottle: Dark brown with a large, creamy tan head. Thick sheets of lacing. Soft cocoa and roasty notes arise. Light coffee. Flavor is smooth and roasty with a light bit of bittersweet chocolate in the tail. Barely a hint of oats. Sweet and creamy there is this little bit of vanilla that I am really liking. Thanks to The_Epeeist for this trade gem.

This beer was recieved thanks to JB175. It has a dark brown color and there is a thin head to it It has a malty and oatmeal like aroma you can smell that maple syrup coming out of it. It also leaves some nice lacing along the sides of the glass. As the beer warms and you drink it there is a initial chocolate and syrup sweetness folowed by a woody finish and a nice bitterness to complement that. The palate has a really nice maple wood finish which sticks around for a good amout of time and leaves a nice coating.

Thanks MuenchenerKindl for such an excellent extra 12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip an awesome midnight black with a good two fingers of tan head that settles into a large curtain of lace that lasts to the end Aromas of oatmeal, malts and grains, yes almost barleywineish with a light alcohol smell Oatmeal, chocolate molasses and fruit with a lite hop end note Wow I like the taste almost like some sort of hybrid oatmeal stout barleywine Palate is medium to thick You need to sit back, relax and sip this one. A truly great beer and I am glad I chose this one to end the night with. I would say that this is a must try beer

Bottle thanks to hopdog. I really thought this was a BW after tasting it, and I really enjoyed it. Pours a dark mahogany color with a thin beige head. The aroma is full of berries, sweet chocolate and brown sugar. The flavor is balanced and excellent; a smooth and crisp fruity aspect, mostly raspberries and strawberries, a sweet chocolate and brown sugar, some roasted malts and a smooth body. No way this is 9.6%. It is so easygoing and tasty, there is a ton of warmth that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed this brew, fruity and sweet, but really balanced out by a strong hop presence that leaves a bitterness in the finish. Very damn good.

Pours a very dark brown, bordering on black with a medium creamy and frosty tan head. Aroma of tangy citrus, pine, malts, smoke and hops. Taste is full of tangy citrus, roasted malts, pine and smoke. Alcoholic finish. Not your typical imperial stout, but very nice.

From bottle, blindtasting #20. Pours dark brown with a small reddish glare with a diminished tan head. Mild roasted and dense malty aroma. Dry. Mild fruity and hard roasted malty flavoured. Bitter hoppy and hardroasted malty base flavoured. Lovely balanced finished.
