A: Pours a velvet amber/brown/almost purple color with a puffed up two finger head layer that leaves patch lace around my glass.
S: Grape notes. Hops mixed with malt beautifully.
T: Subdued and bitter hops. Strong malt flavors, too. This beer really reminds me of a table wine. As this beer warms, almost a chocolate/cocoa flavor emerges.
M: Mouth coating flavor with a thinner body. The hops aren’t overwhelming here.
D: Pretty good stuff. Not my favorite in the style, but a welcomed treat from the East Coast. BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of pine needles, malts, spices and dark fruit. Taste of strong hops with some spices, caramel, pepper and sweet malts. The mouthfeel is medium in body with a lingering hoppy flavor that finishes sweet. Overall, pretty interesting barleywine from the Troegs brothers. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 8, 2009 Pour was a beautiful cherry wood brown with a finger and a half worth of head with some decent lacing. Strong malty aroma. The flavor, similar to its brethren, contains a rather large citrus presence which packs a bitter wallop to balance the loads of caramel malt. Iif you like the Amber and the Nugget Nectar and dig barleywines, you can’t miss this one! ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2009 Pours the color of cherrywood with a creamy beige head. Aroma of pine resin, pineapple, caramel, honey, and nuts. Flavor is full of fresh, juicy hops - pine, pineapple, and grapefruit pith, with rich caramel and toffee undertones. This is young and very hoppy, but the hops are not brash at all - this is very tasty and easy to drink. No alcohol apparency. I’m going to cellar some of this and check it in about 9 months, as I think this will age quite nicely. (22 oz. bottle) nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Very hoppy overall with loads of piney bitterness. Not balanced for me right now. Lots of sweetness and alcohol but bitterness and astringency dominating right now.
