Candied pineapple hop aroma. Friggin delicious sweet caramel coated hops flavor. This is superb.

22 oz. Bomber poured into a snifter. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights. Thin off-white head that diminishes quickly. Sweet, malty aroma with caramel, dark fruits, and a touch of bourbon. Citrus hop also comes through in the aroma. Initial flavor is sweet caramel malt with raisins and plums, subdued oak. Balanced nicely with a citrusy hoppiness. Very slight warming finish. Medium bodied. I’ll definitely age a couple for future tastings.

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Hefty head slowly recedes to hug rim. Dark caramel and pine aromas. Creamy with sweet and sour citrus upfront turning to a burning, and lasting resin hop finish.

Wow. Troegs does it again! Dark color. Smells simcoe but has more subtle complexities. A bit of chocolate in there. Not much head but that’s no big deal for a barley wine. Clean finish on that chocolate but does not stick around too long. Hop finish that lingers as it is supposed to, kind of like a family member. Excellent showing by Troegs and would like to get another one to see what happens when I cellar it.

Poured a very dark amber with little head. The aroma is not very exciting, slightly on the hoppy side. The flavor is outstanding, just a really good mellow beer with a nice mix of hops and malt that seems to be a perfect balance. The 9% alcohol is not overpowering. For as large a beer as this is, it is very easy to drink. An excellent barleywine.

Opaque tan-mahogany, small yellowish-beige head. Nose is malt heavy, toasty, some caramel and plum, sugar, rich. Flavor is similarly sweet but has more malt complexity, lots of plum in the finish and minor alcohol, and there is still some leafy hop. JW-lite.

Well thanks to a wonderful Pennsylvanian BA who sent me this (I think it was Dim) I am sorry this bottle was buried deep in the cellar and was before I kept tracks of my trades. Bottle poured into my Maudite Snifter (I love that glass) produced a skim of lace across the top of a hazy tea colored brown body with some slight teeny bubbles coming from the bottom of the glass Aromas of malts and caramel sugar hit me strait off. It is kind of funny the flavors of hops are present but no aromas from them. The first thing you taste is a nice sweetness from the grains, then comes the bitter from the hops, and warmth of the alcohol; Great balance I have been drinking a few barleywine as of late. So I will say that this is somewhat unique in the stronger hops aspect, especially in an aged brew. This is a good barleywine. Not my favorite as of late, but a strong contender. Yes I drink it again

Bottle courtesy of tpd975, thanks again. Pours deep copper with thin off white head. The aroma is resiny with a mix of orange hard candy and cherry hard candy to go along with pine hop bitterness. The taste has a load of pine hops mingling with sweet orange candy and a bit of cherry hard candy goodness. I get smooth slick sweet malts midway and to the finish. Lots and lots of hops making this practically an IIPA. Yum! Very nice stuff. The pine hop bitterness just hangs on forever into the after taste.
