Poured a murky, light brown caramel color with a thin beige head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of sweet, lightly metallic caramel and some moderate citrus and brown sugar. Light, sweet malt entry with some caramel and a metallic hint leading into a light hop presence with some citrus that finishes slightly dry. Smooth, but a bit thin. Perhaps it is just past its prime, but it just wasn’t that great. HailSquishface (16), Ferndale, Michigan, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 22, 2008 Huge thanks to The_Epeeist for this.
Pours a dark chestnut into my giant snifter with the tiniest head that disappears quickly leaving some lacing.
Smell: The best nose on a barleywine I’ve smelt in a long time, maybe it’s the huge snifter, but I doubt it. Really Earthy, Citrus and Caramel dominate with Rum, Rasins, and Toffee.
Taste: Sweet, Fruity, Caramel, Woody(I’d swear this was oaked), a little bit of Dark Fruits, Pine, Citrus, Burnt Sugar aftertaste. Heavy and Smooth. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Pours a reddish brown with a beautiful cascading BEIGE head. Nose is caramel, toffee and fruit. Tastes like it smells..with the fruity brightness really coming through both up-front and in the finish. Strawberry, raisins, chocolate, vanilla, toasted grains. Also some cummin and a bit of ginger in the aftertaste. Interesting and complex beer. Medium body and good carbonation. THis is a well put-together beer. Lothore (276), California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2008 A- Pours a ruddy, reddish brown hue with a small, off white head.
S- Smells incredibly malty and sweet with caramel and raisins coming to the forefront. Definitely a piney hop character.
T- Suprisingly balanced and smooth. Starts off with raisins, caramel, moves to a sort of cassis flavor followed by a small amount of hops which fades to a lingering maltiness on the tongue.
M- Fairly viscous with a good amount of carbonation.
D- Based on the old reviews i’ve read, the hops have cooled down a lot on this one. It’s drinking really nice right now. I might be inclined to drink it now for those who still have some! I’d be interested to see how the balance is in another 6 months. Too bad this isn’t more available or I would seek out another bottle. Thanks go out to risser for this one. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
