Jul 19, 2009 I think this may have been from the bottle I gave to Aliza at the Cuvee de Castleton release at Captain Lawrence. Pours a nice brown with a thin white/beige head. Sweet and spicy with some nice caramel tones. Malty and more caramel. Finishes with a light bitterness. Tasty.

Jul 17, 2009 12 oz bottle. I guess this is almost 2 years old now. Murky brown with a creamy tan coating. Nose is chocolate caramel, cider and dusty wood. Medium body with a tang. Taste is toffee and apple, briefly sweet before bitter greens and citrus peel kick in. Seems like this has lost something in the cellar. Will have to try a Mouflan.

Sweet malty aroma.
Caramel sweetness with some hop bitterness in the back ground.
Smooth, balanced.

Jul 12, 2009 Thanks to jason/miketd for this one. Pour is dark clear ruby red with a small tan head. Pretty good looking barleywine. Aroma is lots of caramel malt, lightly fruity, earthy, and faint hop. Flavor is true to nose, lots of sweet malt and just enough hop to balance it out.

Jul 10, 2009 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Delicious barley wine aroma of caramel, brown sugar, and a touch of fruit. Flavor is more caramel and toasted malt with a nice hint of hops on the finish. Very smooth. Good beer.

Jul 4, 2009 Bomber. Clear dark amber with a massive yellowy/tan head. Sweet orange citrus and earthen nose, some toffee. Sweet toffee and bitter orange flavors, somewhat earthy. Another good offering from Troeg’s.

Jun 30, 2009 Pours a dark reddish brown with a lasting khaki head. I smell cherries and other dark caramelized fruit and plenty of earthy hops. Very robust flavor profile. I taste toasted malts, some caramel and toffee candies, herbal hops, and rum cake. Pretty tasty. The palate seems a bit thin to me, and the finish is warm and dry. Overall I find this to be a tasty drink, but lacking that certain something that the top tier barley wines have.

Jun 30, 2009 Pours a dark murky brown body with some sediment and a small brown head. The aroma is hop. The taste is sweet hops, sugar, and malt. Strong beer, but tame in comparison to most other barley wines ive tried.
