MagooinPA (92), Warminster, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 9, 2008 draft. Nice head that dissipates quickly but laces the whole way. Great taste and worthy compared to even the best German dopplebocks out there except for Celebrator. This was great and would be nice year round. This is a great doppelbock and i expect nothing less from Troegs.
glennmastrange (462), hobe sound, Florida, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of cereal, nutty and milk chocolate, light resin and earth for the hops and yeast, and hints of toffee, cola and alcohol. Head is frothy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear reddish brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, creamy. and has a carbonation between soft and lively. It finishes moderately astringent and alcoholic. A smooth and rich Doppelbock, but the palate finish knocked off a few points. Hophead22 (363), Redlands, California, USA Nov 26, 2008 22oz bottle from Swolf3. Very dark copper pour with a decent white head. Sweet light roast aroma, very nice. A little thin and watery . Decent Hank1980 (416), Athens, Georgia, USA Nov 18, 2008 Bottle from Beerman6686. Poure a dark amber with a white head. Aroma of caramel malt. Taste was pretty sweet as well. Not much other than malt here, pretty one dimensional. Mouth was medium bodied. Overall, a fair drinker. rugbydude05 (193), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Nov 2, 2008 12 oz bottle, pours a clear dark copper color with little head. Aroma wasnt too impressive but I could detect some sweet caramel and some malt character. Taste was overwhelmingly sweet and not very well balanced but overally not too bad. Average palate. Drink got better as it became warmer. hopson (525), Williamsville, New York, USA Oct 27, 2008 draft- smooth- caramel flavors and a great toffee finish- sensed the booze at first, but things evened out nicely as I continued with the beer.
