Retorp (2158), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Courtesy of Bov. The aroma is toasty grains, wheat husks and is notabel for a lack or any real roast/coffee or chocolate notes. Very toasty though. The body is a ruddy black and holds a thin tan head. Very thin body. Grainy, toasted malt, lightly tart and tangy. Not at all great, but oddly decent. SubCapt (22), Switzerland May 14, 2008 Pours jet black with a little, fine head. Coffee licorice and cocoa in the nose, nice smooth mouthfeel, more coffee and cocoa on the palate, moderate bitterness. Nice tackle at the style, if not as spectacular as some of Trois Dames’ other brews. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 21, 2008 Updated: Apr 28, 2008Bottled, thanks Bov! Really black with small, off-white head. Roasty coffee aroma. Dry and light bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Salty and ashy with some salmiak. Well drinkable, but the flavour is short. ante (2503), Stockholm (Bromma), Sweden Apr 18, 2008 Bottled, shared by omhper. Black with a rich dense beige foam. Burnt malts and crackers in the aroma. Medium to light-bodied with notes of acidic burnt malts, black coffee, toasted grains and nutshells. Medium bitter finish of burnt malts, anise and rubber. Decent stout. oh6gdx (5904), Vaasa, Finland Apr 5, 2008 Bottled (thanks bov!) Dark brown colour, not much head. Aroma is mildly roasted malts, slight grainyness and some vegetables. Flavour is roasted malts, some rubbery notes and blah. Some rather sour notes.
