tiffanya (45), Federal Way, Washington, USA Sep 19, 2009 4-oz sample. The body was smooth, creamy and viscous. The flavor was caramel cookies, with a finish of warm golden raisins. Lightly herbal hops. Sweet palate. Warming alcohol. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2009 Kind of thinking that some of the low reviews are just from ticket shock at the SIB, but since I didn’t pay for this one when I had it at PIB I can safely admit that it wasn’t a bad beer. Poured amber with a light white head and minimal lacing. Aroma and flavor were very sweet for a barleywine, but not in an offensive way. Alcohol content was noted, but in a minor way. Decent beer, though by no means worthy of 7 tickets, but again I didn’t pay for it so whatever. daniele (1640), Italy Jul 12, 2009 ambrato carico schiuma buona discreta persistenza note vinose etiliche caramello tostature zucchero in bocca atacco maltato dolciastro zuccheri poi tostaure e caffe ownch411 (15), USA Jul 8, 2009 4oz. at Seattle International Beerfest. Did not care for it. At seven tickets was glad I tried it but the flavor really caught me off guard. Imagine a Barleywine blown way out of case. Just too sweet and too wow for me. JoeTheYounger (216), California, USA Jul 7, 2009 4oz. pour at Seattle International Beer Festival with mspindler. This was one of the worst beers I had that day. I thought for the 7 ticket price, that it would be something really good. Poured a brown color with vomit looking sediment floating everywhere. Sweet vinegar aroma. It was way too sweet and funky for a barley wine. mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA Jul 4, 2009 This was a 7 ticket disappointment. 4 oz. taster at Seattle IBF. Pours a cloudy brown with yeast chunks and a tan head. Aroma is medicinal, herbal and sweet with some chocolate and cooked fruit. Flavor is basically the same with a light hop bitterness. Thick on the palate and a bit cloying, low carbonation. KnutAlbert (3101), Oslo, Norway May 18, 2009 Truly great.Sour aroma when the cap is opened, after some effort. But then this openes into a wonderfuly complex vinous, grainy, smooth barley wine. Every home should have one. From Bir & Fud, Rome. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 13, 2009 37.5 cL bottle at Bir and Fud. Pours deep amber, clear and golden with a small off-white head. Fruity and dense malty aroma with a light alcohol note. Sweet malty flavoured with a nice fruity touch. Light sticky texture. Lasting sweet malty and fruity flavoured into the far finish. Apparently last batch from 2008, still quite young.
