Commercial Description:
Palanfrina is the fall seasonal and is brewed from September to December. The chestnuts arrive with first chilly days in autumn. Palanfrina brewed with chestnuts is a beer that warms the spirit. Palanfrina is a full-bodied beer with a tawny color and with an intense nose. The use of only regional chestnuts gives the beer a local flavor. Palanfrina is great with pungent cheeses and makes an optimal companion for chocolate desserts.

Bottle: Dark amber cherry, nose of smoke and caramel, smoky nutty flavor with light spice and fig. Not sure what chestnuts taste like but it’s sweet and chewy. Complex, toasty, earthy, nutty cloying tail and super spicy. Not worth the price.

Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours lightly hazy, dark amber with a great, creamy, yellowish-white head. Fine duration, good lacing. Aroma is very nutty, sweet caramel, some nougat and vinious. Highish carbonation, great creamy mouthfeel nonetheless. Flavour is very nice. Sweet nuttiness - almost Nutella-ish - light cocoa, vinious and light toffee. Long, lingering aftertaste with clear chestnut and light hops. Very lovely.

Explosive volcanic opening to this beer lead to a dirty brown pour with crazy tall rocky tan head. The aroma is rich and varied maltiness and has a nice level of nuttiness. It seems like full on chestnut. The taste is much the same with prunes, figs, and raisins that are rich and yummy. It has a spike of alcohol esters that is out of place just before a nice tasty nuttiness appears and helps take this to the finish. This is pretty good stuff.

courtesy of cigarcitybrew. 1/2 of the beer gone upon opening it. The whole beer came springing out of the bottle which is bad considering how hard it is to get the bottle and how darn good the beer actually is. Pours a very cloudy brown, with brownish head. Aroma is loaded with a nutty (chestnut) presence, yeasty and some floral notes Taste, dark fruits, chestnuts, malty. Really enjoyable beer, more goodness out of Italy.

Murky brown pour with a thin beige head. Aroma of toasted malt and flowers. The flavor has some nuts, flowers, burned caramel and toasted malt. The body is light with an oily texture and gentle carbonation.

Devo dire che mi piace questa birra con la castagna... 750ml bottle, dark brown pour with a slightly off white head. Nice chestnut aroma with a nutty, easy drinking flavor. Smooth
