Aug 30, 2007 Bottle from mgumby10; nose of spices, caramel, and nuts; cherry brown with a medium tan head; flavor ofa smoky note, dark fruitiness, and you can taste chestnuts and a little alcohol in the finish. Body seems a little thin, but it tastes good and goes down smooth, but different!

Aug 30, 2007 Poured a mostly clear dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma was spicey with notes of mint, vanilla, marzipan, and alcohol. The flavor was spicey, nutty and malty with a decent wamring sensation.

Jun 26, 2007 Bottle: Poured brown with an off white head. Aroma, nutty caramel, some spice. Flavor, lots of chestnuts, spice, fruits, caramel. Pretty interesting, and made a decent bread.

Jun 26, 2007 Bottle. Poured a deep reddish-amber with a short cap of yellowy-beige head. Aroma was of sweet, spicy floral notes with lots of spicage.. didn’t pick too much chestnut out of this. Flavor had lots of peppery spices and alcohol with cola-like sweetness.. spicy again, with a touch more chestnut than the nose.. odd boozy sweetness through the finish. Sharp all-around with that odd sweetness.. light-medium bodied.. long, tacky finish. Didn’t care for this one.

Jun 25, 2007 Bottle via Knightly Liquors in FL. Pours to a dark mahogany body with a thin very dense off-white head. The aroma is sort of floral and phenolic. Light chestnuts. The flavor is chocolate malts, some weird thing that’s probably the chestnuts, tart malt, caramel, and spices. The palate is moderately bodied with a lingering sweetness, slick and velvety at the same time. Overall, surprisingly decent.

Jun 20, 2007 Amber/ruby/brown with a small, dense, tan head. Weird candy green apple nose is also lightly floral, earthy, and with subtle chocolate roast. Similar flavor with less apple, some nuts, rich malt, and lightly floral spiciness. Medium/full body, well carbonated, soft. Strange brew.

Jun 19, 2007 If a chestnut nut brown is traditional, then this is a traditional ale. Otherwise, it’s a damned fine nut brown ale. Bottle from State Line. Deep brown pour with 2-finger khaki head. Aroma is roasty dark malt, nuts, cinnamon, brown sugar, slight hops. The taste is dark malty, rich, very nuttywith mid-palate figgy and brown sugar notes and an ever-so-slight rauchy note at culmination. As expected, the bottom of my glass showed a large sediment layer. This beer has more nuts than a clown convention, and is one of the more unique styles i have ever encountered.

Jun 19, 2007 thanks to mgumby. Green apples, spicey, herbal, earthy, a lot going on in the aroma! Medium brown. Caramel, rich, malty, subtle hints of sour green apple. Creamy mouth feel, with a spicey background!
